In the context of medical facilities facing a shortage of blood for emergency and treatment purposes, many hospitals in the province have proactively launched a voluntary blood donation movement. This activity quickly attracted the widespread participation of medical staff, people and organizations and units in the area.

A typical example is Cam Pha Regional General Hospital. From the beginning of August 2025 until now, the unit has launched 3 voluntary blood donation campaigns. In particular, the image of Mr. Nguyen Van Tao's family and his two daughters Nguyen Ngoc Giau and Nguyen Ngoc Anh (living in group 2, area 3C, Cam Pha ward) participating in blood donation on August 5 left many emotions. Mr. Tao confided: "Hearing the hospital's call, my father and I thought of the patients who were in critical condition, waiting for blood transfusions every hour and every minute. Donating blood is small, but our blood will give others a chance to live. My father and I are eligible to donate blood, so we came together to donate blood."

The image of three members of a family entering the blood donation room together left many emotions about family love, responsibility and kindness. In just 3 campaigns, Cam Pha Regional General Hospital received over 260 units of precious blood, contributing to supplementing the blood reserve for emergency and treatment work.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tao and his two daughters Nguyen Ngoc Giau and Nguyen Ngoc Anh (residing in group 2, area 3C, Cam Pha ward) donated blood together on August 5 at Cam Pha Regional General Hospital.

At the provincial level, the Provincial General Hospital is also one of the leading units in the blood donation movement. On average, the hospital needs about 1,000 units of blood per month for treatment, and must also coordinate with the medical centers in the Eastern region.

Dr. Ngo Van Tuan, Head of the Cardiology Department and Secretary of the Hospital Youth Union, said: “We actively encourage cadres, union members, youth and hospital staff to donate blood to meet treatment needs. In addition, we also promote and mobilize patients’ relatives and social organizations to participate to promptly supplement the blood supply for emergency and treatment.”

Regardless of expertise, hospitals also focus on promoting propaganda and organizing various forms of blood donation campaigns. Currently, in the province, there are 4 fixed Red Cross blood donation points at the following hospitals: Provincial General Hospital, Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi, Bai Chay and Obstetrics and Pediatrics. People can come directly to donate blood here on all days of the week, creating maximum convenience for volunteers.

At the Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital, the blood donation movement has become a regular activity and has received close coordination with local socio -political organizations. Since the beginning of 2025, the hospital has launched 20 blood donation campaigns, receiving nearly 4,500 units of blood, contributing to supplementing the reserve source for emergency and treatment work.

Dr. Vu Thi Thanh Huong, Head of the Laboratory Department, Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital, shared: The voluntary blood donation movement not only contributes to overcoming the shortage of blood in emergency and treatment, but also spreads good humanistic values ​​in the community. Each unit of blood donated is a priceless gift, giving patients more chances to live. We hope that more and more people, especially the young, will actively participate in regular blood donation so that the blood reserve is always guaranteed, contributing to saving the lives of more patients.

People of Viet Hung ward participated in voluntary blood donation at Bai Chay Hospital's blood donation point on August 3.

According to statistics from the Provincial Red Cross, in the first 7 months of 2025, Quang Ninh organized 68 blood donation campaigns, attracting nearly 17,000 participants, receiving 14,394 units of blood, reaching 63% of the annual blood target. Notably, many agencies, units, schools, and armed forces have considered blood donation an annual activity, creating a widespread movement.

The voluntary blood donation movement has become a profound humane beauty, demonstrating the spirit of “Solidarity - Compassion - Responsibility for the community”. Each drop of blood donated not only contributes to saving the life of a patient in critical condition but is also a journey of sharing and spreading love to make life more meaningful.
