Disadvantaged students in Thoi Lai commune receive bicycles sponsored by benefactors.

Just after the gift-giving ceremony for disadvantaged students, Chau Thi My Ngoc, class 4A3, Truong Thang Primary School, Thoi Lai Commune, was extremely happy to receive a brand new bicycle. She got on the bike and tried it out for a spin, then boasted: “The bike runs so smoothly. Before, I only walked, sometimes I borrowed bikes from my classmates or neighbors to try it out. I have long wished to have a bike. Now my wish has come true, I thank you very much!”. Also happy to receive the gift, Vo Thai An, class 8A2 student, Truong Thanh 1 Secondary School, Thoi Lai Commune, shared: “This is the first time I have received a scholarship, I will give it to my parents to take care of my family. I have an older brother in grade 12, whose circumstances are difficult, so my parents have worked hard to provide for us both. I will try my best to study well so as not to disappoint my parents, teachers and the benefactors who have given me gifts.”

My Ngoc and Thai An are two of more than 100 students in difficult circumstances who received gifts on August 28, in the program "Give wings to dreams to go to school" organized by the Women's Union of Thoi Lai commune in coordination with sponsoring units. At the program, the Organizing Committee presented more than 100 gifts including: 13 bicycles (worth 2 million VND/bike), 21 scholarships (each worth 500,000 VND), 70 gifts (backpacks, notebooks, school supplies, shoes, clothes), 100 books to Thoi Lai town Secondary School... The total cost is more than 100 million VND, sponsored by the JCI Vietnam Young Leaders Federation, Can Tho Lotus Volunteer Group, Hiep Tam Volunteer Group, Spa for men system - MANNAM Group and other benefactors.

In August, many volunteer groups, youth unions, and philanthropists joined hands to support students in difficult circumstances to enter the new school year. For example, Can Tho Smile Club, chaired by Ms. My Uyen, donated about 500 gifts including notebooks, school bags, school supplies, clothes, shoes, necessities, etc. to students in remote areas of Can Tho City and other provinces. Cai Khe Ward Youth Union coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward to organize the "Zero Dong Store" program, giving more than 400 gifts (backpacks, notebooks, school supplies, cakes, milk) and 30 scholarships (VND 1 million/scholarship) to disadvantaged students. Each gift given will help support students to overcome difficulties and continue going to school, giving them motivation in their journey to conquer knowledge; at the same time connecting kind hearts, spreading love to the community.
