Fishing village in Gia Lai has blue sea and white sand, 50 thousand for 4 people to have a full breakfast

Trung Luong fishing village is located in a coastal area of Cat Tien commune, Gia Lai province (formerly Cat Tien town, Phu Cat district, Binh Dinh province), about 30km from the center of the old Quy Nhon city.

The family of Mr. Nguyen Hong Nhat (35 years old, architect, Hanoi ) recently visited Trung Luong fishing village for 2 days and 1 night during their journey across Vietnam. This is the third time this family has come to Trung Luong.

"In 2023, my husband and I took a trip across Vietnam. On the way back, we used Google to search for a random place to rest. By chance, the app suggested a homestay in Trung Luong fishing village.

Arriving at the village, we were surprised by its peaceful, simple beauty, the houses decorated in the same white and blue tones, the walls, the welcome gate, and the homestay signboard were all rustic and natural," said Mr. Nhat.

The small fishing village lies peacefully on the blue sea, making the Hanoi family return 3 times.

In the past, people in this fishing village were involved in nearshore fishing using coracles. Nowadays, many families have switched to tourism services but still maintain the rustic, genuine and generous nature of coastal people.

The beach here is very gentle, with white sand and clear, blue water, suitable for families with young children. From the beach, you can see the wind farm, creating a beautiful check-in corner.

"The beach here is truly a paradise for 'summer vacationers'. They can play from early morning to noon without getting bored. When they are tired, they can go back to the homestay yard to rest under the cool shade of the sea almond trees," said Mr. Nhat.

The beach here has clear blue water, long stretches of fine white sand, but is deserted and few tourists know about it.

During his three stays in Trung Luong fishing village, Nhat's family stayed at Ma Nam homestay twice and visited Nha Ba Com Ma once. According to him, each homestay in the village has its own beauty, not splendid but peaceful, bringing a feeling of relaxation and closeness to visitors. Homestays all have air conditioning, clean accommodation, kitchens for guests to cook, and a cool green garden space.

"The homestay owners often lend our family their motorbikes to go to the market and enthusiastically advise us on itineraries to explore the area around the fishing village. We go to a place because of the beautiful scenery but come back because of the people. Trung Luong fishing village is such a place," Nhat shared.

Mr. Nhat's daughter likes to play in the sandy yard, shaded by the sea banyan trees.

One of Nhat's family's favorite activities is visiting the seafood market, about 1km from the fishing village, which usually opens early in the morning and from 3pm to 6pm. According to Nhat, the market is now located in a new urban area, with more convenient and spacious roads, but has somewhat "lost the old poetic charm".

Seafood in the market is fresh, diverse and reasonably priced such as oysters 40,000 VND/kg, crab claws 50,000 VND/kg, blue crabs 500,000 VND/kg, and jumping snails 50,000 VND/kg.

Mr. Nhat and his wife suggest delicious, easy-to-prepare dishes such as steamed blue crab with beer, steamed fresh squid with beer, grilled red snapper with charcoal or grilled in foil to wrap in rice paper and dip in fish sauce.

"My family usually avoids eating snails because they are afraid of getting a cold stomach, even though snails at the market are cheap and varied. This time, I bought some snails, but I probably didn't know how to cook them, so I only ate a few claws. Locals said they usually buy the claws separately to make a snack instead of buying the whole snail," said Mr. Nhat.

Seafood for sale at the market

Nhat's family often buys seafood to cook for dinner at the homestay.

For breakfast in the fishing village, visitors can enjoy local cakes such as shrimp and squid pancakes, banh can, and "wrist-sized" spring rolls. At the afternoon market, there are many snacks such as yogurt bags, black bean sweet soup, seaweed jelly... at very cheap prices.

"Here, I only need 50,000 VND to feed my family of four with a full breakfast," Mr. Nhat and his wife introduced.

Mr. Nhat's family eats shrimp pancakes at a "super cheap" price of 10,000 VND/3 pieces.

Trung Luong fishing village does not have famous check-in spots but has a poetic quality, a place for tourists to experience a slow pace of life, separate from the hustle and bustle.

If you have more time, you can combine a visit to Thien Hung Zen Monastery - where there is a 69m high, 52m diameter Buddha statue; Eo Gio and Nhon Ly fishing village.

If you come here during the fishing festival - which has been around for more than 200 years and takes place on the 12th day of the 4th lunar month every year, you can see the whole fishing village bustling like Tet.
