Lang Son flexibly implements two-session teaching

Agree on implementation plan

Before entering the new school year, the Department of Education and Training of Lang Son issued a document directing schools to prepare necessary conditions to ensure the best implementation of teaching 2 sessions/day; in which special attention was paid to reviewing and advising on arrangements to ensure the teaching staff and number of classrooms.

At the same time, the Department also guides units to develop plans to implement teaching 2 sessions/day with specific content and organization, ensuring compliance with general principles and suitable to the specific conditions of each school.

For high school and middle school levels, organizing 2 sessions/day is a new content of the school year, so there needs to be unity in the implementation plan for educational institutions.

Mr. Hoang Van Thao, Head of Secondary Education Department, Lang Son Department of Education and Training, said: Educational institutions flexibly arrange the duration of the first and second sessions, ensuring no pressure on learners; organize diverse educational activities, meeting the needs, interests and talents of students.

“Schools proactively contact and sign cooperation agreements with partners to implement supplementary educational activities according to established and approved plans; develop lunch and break plans suitable to actual conditions, ensuring the consensus and voluntariness of students and parents and following regulations on school safety, food hygiene, ensuring nutrition and health for students,” emphasized Mr. Hoang Van Thao.

Flexible according to each school's situation

At Loc Binh High School (Lang Son province), in the 2025-2026 school year, the school has 1,480 students, arranged into 36 classes. Because there are only 26 classrooms, to implement 2 sessions/day, the school has planned to teach all day on Saturday, organize some special educational activities in the form of integrating the whole grade; at the same time, coordinate to use classrooms of Loc Binh Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center located near the school when necessary.

Ms. Vi Thi Kim Thu, Principal of Loc Binh High School, said: “We have developed a specific plan, according to which the first session implements the content of compulsory subjects, educational activities, options, and study topics according to the program; the second session is for some content such as reviewing and tutoring students who have not met the requirements, nurturing excellent students, reviewing for high school graduation exams; scientific and technical research activities, career education, experiences, STEM/STEAM education, reading culture, school culture, career counseling, life skills, digital skills and artificial intelligence, foreign languages, sports, and arts”.

For Tam Thanh Secondary School (Tam Thanh Ward, Lang Son Province), the school diversifies teaching methods, depending on the content or activities to implement according to class size or grade, study in groups of students with the same level or interest, club activities, guided self-study, practical experiential learning; combining learning in the classroom with extra-class activities in subject classrooms, multi-purpose halls, libraries, and playgrounds.

“With the plan to teach 2 sessions/day, we will have more time to guide students in using artificial intelligence and applying digital technology platforms to better serve their studies,” said Ms. Lam Thi Nga (Math teacher).

Ms. Phan My Hanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lang Son emphasized: Teaching two sessions/day aims to improve the quality of comprehensive education; increase practical activities, apply knowledge; develop capacity, qualities, life skills and other core competencies for students; effectively use facilities and teaching staff, meet the needs and aspirations of students and families; overcome the situation of illegal extra teaching and learning.
