Lao Cai: Export turnover through Kim Thanh border gate reached nearly 549 million USD

In 2023, the number of enterprises participating in import-export activities through Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II (Kim Thanh border gate) will be 670 enterprises, an increase of 13 enterprises compared to 2022. The total import-export turnover will reach over 1,055 million USD, an increase of 49% compared to 2022 (nearly 706 million USD).

Of which, export turnover reached nearly 549 million USD, an increase of 181% compared to 2022 (over 195 million USD). The main export items are dragon fruit, banana, cassava, various types of wood, lychee, durian...

Import turnover reached over 506 million USD, down 1% compared to 2022 (nearly 511 million USD). The main imported items are agricultural products (vegetables, tubers, fruits of all kinds), chemicals, fertilizers, plastics, plastic products, machinery and mechanical equipment, electricity, etc.

Lao Cai province also aims to strive for import-export turnover through border gates in the area to reach 4.5 billion USD in 2024.

Previously, from January 8, 2023, China resumed entry and exit activities through the Lao Cai - Hekou international border gate, and the need for entry and exit of border residents on both sides has increased continuously. In particular, from March 15, 2023, China officially resumed tourism activities, and the number of people entering and exiting through the Lao Cai - Hekou international border gate has increased sharply, with an average of about 7,000 people entering and exiting each day.

On July 27, 2023, immigration and exit activities will be officially restored at the Lo Co Chin (Vietnam) - Lao Kha (China) opening and the Muong Khuong (Vietnam) - Kieu Dau (China) sub-border gate.

In 2023, import and export activities of goods, especially agricultural products through the international road border gate, will be vibrant, the value of imported and exported goods through the border gate will increase by 39% over the same period in 2022; in which, durian, which was officially exported for the first time through the border gate, has contributed significantly to increasing the value of imported and exported goods.
