This is a particularly important event in the series of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Sector's tradition (October 3, 1945 - October 3, 2025). This event is not only important for the hydrometeorological sector, but also associated with the cause of socio -economic development, environmental protection and climate change response of Cao Bang province. October 3, 2025 is also the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of Cao Bang province (October 3, 1950). This event is associated with the historical milestone of the 1950 border campaign in which Uncle Ho directly visited, encouraged and directed the campaign in Dong Khe.
On June 28, 1898, Governor-General of Indochina Paulmer signed the decision to establish the first 6 meteorological stations in Indochina, including the Cao Bang Meteorological Station. From the early days, the observation work was full of hardships when the measuring instruments were only rudimentary tools, and the observation officers and staff had to work in all harsh weather conditions.
After the August Revolution, the North was liberated, on January 1, 1957, Cao Bang Meteorological Station was restored to become a Grade I Station. These years were still full of challenges when the country was still facing many difficulties, but the leaders and staff of the station still took turns working day and night, rain or shine, to promptly send news to the Central Government as required by the mission. During the resistance war against the US, the work was even more difficult, especially in the dangerous and cold weather of the mountains and forests.

Leaders attended the plaque-mounting ceremony Ceremony of awarding the Cao Bang Meteorological Station with over 100 years of operation
In 1979, when the Northern border war broke out, on February 17, Cao Bang town was occupied, but the Station's staff remained steadfast in their positions until the evacuation order was given by their superiors. In the dangerous bombs and bullets of war, they were both concerned with protecting the safety of machinery and records, and at the same time, they struggled to maintain the flow of data and resume operations when instructed, demonstrating the steadfast spirit and responsibility of the "sky guards" at the border.
In the history of development of the Vietnam Hydrometeorological sector, Cao Bang Meteorological Station is one of the special witnesses, marking the journey of more than a century accompanying the country. The station has experienced 03 wars of the nation, experienced many difficulties, hardships and losses, as well as witnessed and contributed to the cause of building and developing the country as it is today.
Generations of leaders and employees of the Cao Bang Meteorological Station have carried out noble tasks associated with the history of the country and nature, recording the evolution and changes of the climate in the Northeast region, making important contributions to the work of forecasting, warning, researching and preventing natural disasters, limiting damage to property and people for the state and people. Generations of officials and employees of the Hydrometeorological Station through the ages are historical witnesses who leave behind shining examples, diligent officials who always stick to their profession, despite the difficult and lacking conditions of facilities and working equipment; income from salaries is not enough to cover living expenses, especially during the war, the period of living under the subsidy regime (ration cards...), but they have overcome everything. Looking back at what previous generations have experienced, we truly admire and are proud of the great contributions of generations of cadres and employees of the Cao Bang hydrometeorology sector to the protection, construction and development of our province as well as the country.
Nowadays, Cao Bang Meteorological Station has been equipped with more modern equipment, automatic monitoring system contributing to reduce direct workload, but behind the data transmitted to the system is always the dedication, perseverance and responsibility of the people quietly guarding the sky. They are the people whose work is little known, but they make an important contribution to protecting the safety of the people, production and sustainable development of Cao Bang homeland as well as the whole country.

The collective leadership and staff of the Cao Bang Provincial Hydrometeorological Station attended the plaque-mounting ceremony.
Cao Bang Meteorological Station - enduring for more than a century in the sun, rain, wind and dew is a symbol of dedication, resilience and responsibility, contributing to the glorious tradition of the entire Meteorological and Hydrological sector. It can be affirmed that Cao Bang Meteorological Station is a "living witness" of the development history of the Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Sector .
In the coming time, accompanying the socio-economic development of the province, Cao Bang Meteorological Station and all officers and employees of the Station will continue to promote tradition, constantly innovate, apply modern technology, improve the quality of monitoring and forecasting, increasingly better serve the work of resource management, environmental protection, natural disaster prevention and socio-economic development of the province. Together, we will coordinate well between the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Hydrometeorological Station to implement the 2015 Law on Hydrometeorology, decrees and documents guiding the implementation of the Law, especially focusing on the implementation of Directive No. 10-CT/TW dated September 25, 2021 of the Central Party Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in hydrometeorology to meet the requirements of national construction and defense; Plan No. 122 dated March 16, 2022 of the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee on implementing Directive No. 10 dated September 25, 2021; Plan No. 1231 dated May 20, 2022 of the Provincial People's Committee on implementing Plan No. 122 dated March 16, 2022 of the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee .
The plaque-attaching ceremony is not only the honor and pride of Cao Bang Meteorological Station, but also the common pride of Cao Bang province. This is a great motivation for the entire hydrometeorological sector to continue to strive and excellently complete the tasks entrusted by the Party, State and People.
