Latest World Volleyball Tournament Schedule: Vietnam is trying its best for Bich Tuyen

The 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship attracts 32 of the world's top teams, including the Vietnamese women's volleyball team (ranked 22nd in the world) who qualified for the tournament for the first time thanks to their 4th place in the Asian Championship. The tournament takes place in 4 locations in Thailand: Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chiang Mai and Phuket. The Vietnamese team is in Group G with Poland (ranked 3rd in the world), Germany (ranked 11th in the world), Kenya (ranked 23rd in the world), this group will compete in Phuket.

Vietnam volleyball team faces a mountain out of the gate

According to the latest schedule from the organizers, the Vietnamese team will face the strongest team in Group G, Poland, in the opening match at 8:30 p.m. on August 23. In the second match at 5:00 p.m. on August 25, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and her teammates will face the second seed in Group G, Germany. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team will close the group stage with a match against an opponent considered equally strong, Kenya, at 5:00 p.m. on August 27.

Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen's withdrawal at the last minute has had a significant impact on the team's performance, but coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said the team must still move forward with replacement options that have been prepared throughout the training and accumulation process. Captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and her teammates are not under pressure to perform, so they are confident that they will be able to fully demonstrate their abilities.

Before the world championship, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team had two quality friendly matches, facing the European team Spain (lost 0-4) and the African representative Kenya (won 4-0). "If the Spanish team tends to play fast, creating pressure from serving and deploying flexible attacks, the Kenyan team tends to be strong but their attack organization is not diverse. The teams did not show their full strength in the friendly match, but we also learned some lessons, from which we can better prepare for the upcoming matches against strong opponents," coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet shared.
