Along with the core of the World Cultural Heritage Site of Hoi An Ancient Town, the tourism space of Hoi An City has been increasingly expanded in recent years and ecological resources have been reasonably exploited. Rural, coastal and island tourism is being promoted, attracting more and more tourists.

In developing tourism - services - trade, in addition to focusing on directing the improvement of service quality and product diversification, Hoi An City leaders have advocated expanding the space for tourism - service development to the suburbs.

Accordingly, priority is given to investment in developing tourism infrastructure for sea - island - village areas, focusing on preserving and promoting the ecological - human values of each region and locality, associated with promoting the development of eco-tourism and community tourism, creating conditions for people to participate and benefit from tourism.

Mr. Luong Son - Secretary of Cam Chau Ward Party Committee said, with the advantage of a locality with more than 180 hectares of agricultural land and more than 40 hectares of shrimp pond surface, the city has directed the development of a plan to combine tourism development in this area.

"We have focused on leading and directing development in the direction of eco-tourism, while creating conditions for people in the region to both do agriculture and engage in various types of services to thereby improve people's lives," said Mr. Son.

In recent years, with the advantage of rich potential, Hoi An City has created conditions for effective development of exploration tourism, experience of traditional crafts and villages.

Tourism space is thus extended to rural villages and craft villages with many attractive programs, favored by domestic and foreign tourists such as: pottery making, vegetable growing, plowing, river experience, coconut forest exploration... These tourist attractions have also contributed to extending the stay and sightseeing time of local tourists.

However, if there are more specific, new and innovative support and incentive policies and plans, the type of tourism in suburban and island areas will become a truly synchronous and effective system of products to support tourism in ancient urban areas.

Because with Hoi An, there is not only Cu Lao Cham, Tra Que vegetable village, Thanh Ha pottery village, Kim Bong carpentry village, Cam Thanh coconut forest... but also villages with many different potentials in terms of natural resources, humanity and ecology.

Mr. Tran Anh - Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council said: "In addition to the old town, Hoi An has been promoting the expansion of more tourism spaces in the heritage buffer zone. The general trend is to make these spaces unique and attractive destinations, both to attract tourists and increase revenue, creating more livelihoods for people in the suburbs."

In the context that the old town - a world cultural heritage and the city's tourist center - is being overloaded due to limited space and the increasing number of visitors, connecting and creating open corridors for tourist spaces in Hoi An is extremely necessary.

Models or destinations, even though small and medium in scale, but have advantages in specific values to meet the needs of tourists, still have strong appeal and create widespread influence, ensuring benefits for the community.
