Currently, localities in Loc Ha ( Ha Tinh ) are urgently preparing to cover more than 4,774 hectares of spring crop land and aim for a successful crop season.

As a locality with advantages in fertile soil, this spring crop, Loc Ha town continues to develop plans and production projects with a tendency to prioritize upland crops. Accordingly, out of a total of 306 hectares of spring crop land, only more than 70 hectares are used for rice cultivation, the rest strives to cover vegetables, specifically: 195 hectares of peanuts (striving to achieve a yield of 36 tons/ha), 15 hectares of sweet potatoes (striving to achieve 78 tons/ha), 13 hectares of melons, the rest are beans, corn and vegetables. Currently, farmers in Loc Ha town are focusing on preparing the land so that in about 15 days they can plant peanuts in dry, high lands.

Vice Chairman of Loc Ha Town People's Committee Nguyen Van Tinh informed: "In the 2024 spring crop, we strive to do about 12 hectares more than the 2023 spring crop; especially the peanut growing area will increase by 5 hectares, the yield will be higher than the average of 9 quintals/ha. To achieve that result, we have soon developed a production plan and propagated, reminding people to follow the crop calendar and be proactive in production. Currently, people are focusing on plowing, dumping manure, preparing seeds, dredging canals, upgrading internal roads, weeding, making vegetable beds, planting seedlings...".

Having just completed land consolidation in the direction of one plot per household, this spring crop, Tan Loc commune is determined to complete 506 hectares (4 hectares more than the 2023 spring crop); of which, rice accounts for 483 hectares, the rest are other crops. With the determination to have the first crop after the successful land "revolution", with a total rice output of 2,792 tons (yield of 57.8 quintals/ha), Tan Loc is focusing on propaganda and mobilizing people to actively improve the field surface, complete the infrastructure system serving production, comply with the crop calendar, protect the seeded areas in extreme weather conditions...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh in Tan Thuong village (Tan Loc commune) shared: “After the land conversion, my family received a 5-sao field in a favorable location. Currently, we have rented machinery to level the ground, plowed and harrowed, and prepared fertilizer for sowing (planning to sow 2 types of seeds: Ly 2099 and Thai Xuyen 111). The weather has been cold these past few days, but I still took the time to transport manure to the field, build banks, get water... to proactively produce according to the crop schedule."

The spring crop is the most important crop of the year, so Loc Ha is focusing on directing it vigorously and participating with high determination. Accordingly, in the 2024 spring crop, the whole district will strive to cover all 4,774.2 hectares of crops of all kinds, including 3,309 hectares of rice, striving to achieve a yield of 54 quintals/ha; 926 hectares of peanuts, striving to achieve nearly 27 quintals/ha; 69 hectares of corn, striving to achieve 26.5 quintals/ha; 312 hectares of vegetables, striving to achieve 68 quintals/ha; 97 hectares of sweet potatoes, striving to achieve 81.4 quintals/ha; 56 hectares of beans, striving to achieve 8.3 quintals/ha; the remaining area is for other crops.

To aim for a successful crop, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is coordinating with localities to thoroughly grasp the 2024 Spring Crop Production Project of the district and communes, proactively following the fields, increasing information, supporting technical solutions... especially for the two main crops of rice and peanuts. At this time, farmers in the whole district are preparing seeds, fertilizers and other materials; about 80% of peanut land has been completed, 95% of rice land has been planted, some wind-sheltered and well-watered areas have been sown to strive for mass planting in about 15-20 days...

Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Loc Ha district Nguyen Dinh Thanh said: “Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and authorities at all levels are focusing on propagating, mobilizing, and urging farmers to proactively "start" the new production season to ensure the crop schedule. At the same time, all levels and sectors are focusing on promoting land consolidation, land accumulation, field improvement, upgrading the infrastructure system serving production... to improve the quality of rice and peanut land, build model fields, strengthen joint ventures and partnerships. In addition, we also direct the strengthening of the application of science and technology, promote irrigation, strengthen the management of agricultural materials and pesticides, and effectively implement policies to support production development...”.
