Fresh rice trend down

Rice prices today, February 21, 2025, in the Mekong Delta region did not fluctuate much. Some raw rice products increased slightly, fresh rice prices tended to decrease compared to yesterday.

Regarding rice, according to the update from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, currently, IR 504 raw rice increased by 100 VND, fluctuating at 7,900 - 8,000 VND/kg; OM 380 raw rice increased by 100 VND, fluctuating at 7,550 - 7,700 VND/kg; 5451 raw rice fluctuated at 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg; OM 380 finished rice fluctuated at 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg; IR 504 finished rice fluctuated at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.

Regarding by-products, the prices of by-products fluctuate from 5,550 - 7,300 VND/kg. Currently, the price of broken rice fluctuates at 7,100 - 7,300 VND/kg; broken rice 3-4 fluctuates at 6,100 - 6,200 VND/kg; the price of dry bran fluctuates at 5,550 - 5,700 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Recorded in localities today, the amount of rice arriving is still slow, buying and selling transactions continue to be slow. In Lap Vo ( Dong Thap ), the amount is low, some customers have not yet milled and sold, the warehouse price has increased slightly compared to yesterday. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), the price of raw rice of all kinds has increased slightly.

Sa Dec market canal (Dong Thap), small quantity, sporadic transactions, warehouses buy rice, prices increase slightly. At An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang ), rice is available sporadic, prices are stable, few buyers.

At retail markets, rice prices of all kinds are the same as yesterday. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price of 28,000 VND/kg; regular rice fluctuates at 15,000 - 16,000 VND/kg; long-grain fragrant rice fluctuates at 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice 22,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice fluctuates at 18,000 - 20,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice is at 22,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is 21,000 VND/kg; common white rice is at 17,000 VND/kg; Soc regular rice fluctuates at 18,000 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice is 21,000 VND/kg; Japanese rice is 22,000 VND/kg.

Similar to fresh rice, according to the update from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the current price of OM 5451 rice decreased by 100 VND, fluctuating at 5,800 - 6,000 VND/kg; OM 18 rice decreased by 100 VND, fluctuating at 6,400 - 6,500 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice fluctuated at 6,400 - 6,600 VND/kg; IR 50404 rice fluctuated at 5,400 - 5,600 VND/kg; OM 380 rice was at 6,600 - 6,700 VND/kg; Nhat rice was at 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 was at 9,200 VND/kg.

In many localities today, the quantity is low, and buying and selling transactions continue to be slow. In Soc Trang, farmers reported a good winter-spring rice crop, traders bought less and offered low prices, and transactions were slow. In Ca Mau, farmers offered a slight decrease in rice, and demand was slow.

In Kien Giang, transactions are stagnant, there are few buyers, prices tend to decrease. In Can Tho, bad weather slows down rice transactions, there are few buyers, prices fluctuate little. In Dong Thap, farmers offer to sell a lot of rice to be cut in the next 1-2 weeks, fragrant winter-spring rice tends to decrease, buying and selling are slow.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices today are stable compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), currently 5% standard rice is at 394 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is at 369 USD/ton; 100% broken rice is at 310 USD/ton.
