Number of Vietnamese tourists to Hong Kong to increase impressively by 2025

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) said that from January to July 2025, Hong Kong welcomed more than 39,000 Vietnamese visitors, an increase of 46.6% over the same period last year.

On September 25, speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , HKTB Southeast Asia Regional Director Liew Chian Jia said: “Vietnam is one of the key markets in Southeast Asia for Hong Kong tourism . We want to introduce a vibrant and attractive image of Hong Kong from unique cultural and tourism experiences to a series of world-class events taking place all year round, to inspire and attract more Vietnamese tourists to Hong Kong.”

In 2024, Hong Kong welcomed 44.5 million international visitors. In 2025, Hong Kong expects to welcome 49 million visitors.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board estimates that on average, each Vietnamese tourist spends 3.5 days on a trip to the island, spending about 6,400 HKD (about 22 million VND). That level of spending is enough to have a relatively complete experience of services, enjoyment and unique street food.

Mr. Phan Quoc Dai, deputy director of the outbound tourism division of Saigontourist travel service company, said: "There is a clear growth in the number of Vietnamese tourists traveling to the Chinese market in general and Hong Kong in particular, both individual and group tourists.

In the first 9 months of this year, the number of customers buying tours to Hong Kong with Saigontourist was equal to the whole year of 2024. In the last 3 months of the year, we predict that the number of customers will double compared to the last 9 months. That shows that the market demand for traveling to Hong Kong is increasing very clearly.

The group travel market is also growing, including MICE tourism (meetings, incentives, conferences, etc.), because Hong Kong is a branded destination."

Mr. Phan Quoc Dai also said that tour prices in Hong Kong may be slightly higher than other markets in the region. But Vietnamese tourists still love it because of the quality of service and the corresponding destinations.
