Master Card Vietnam has a new director

DNVN - Mastercard has just officially appointed Mr. Sharad Jain as Country Manager in charge of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

Prior to assuming the role of Country Manager for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, Mr. Sharad served as Vice President, Account Management, Southeast Asia, for Mastercard in Singapore. In this role, he was responsible for building relationship management strategies with leading financial institutions in the region.

Mr. Sharad Jain succeeds Ms. Winnie Wong, who is currently Mastercard's Country Manager for Thailand and Myanmar.

In his new role, Mr. Sharad will lead and develop strategic direction and oversee Mastercard’s business operations in these three markets. In Vietnam, Mr. Sharad’s responsibilities include enhancing Mastercard’s collaboration with government agencies, banking, fintech and retail partners, thereby promoting the deployment and expansion of secure digital payment solutions.

With over 22 years of international experience in the financial services sector across India, Asia and the Middle East, Sharad Jain has extensive expertise in payments, retail and corporate banking, consumer finance, and digital transformation. In his new role, he will focus on promoting modern, secure and convenient digital payment solutions through strengthening public-private partnerships. In addition, he will also prioritize promoting financial inclusion and digital transformation, contributing to supporting Vietnam on its journey to build a more connected and digitalized economy .

Mr. Sharad’s appointment comes at a time when Vietnam is undergoing a strong digital transformation process under the direction of the National Digital Transformation Program. According to Mastercard’s recent Payments Index report, 94% of Vietnamese consumers have used at least one new form of digital payment in the past year – 7% higher than the global average. The strong demand for digital payments opens up great opportunities to expand the application of digital technologies and solutions, contributing to promoting Vietnam towards a more comprehensive and sustainable digital ecosystem.
