The Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications) in collaboration with global cybersecurity company Kaspersky organized an annual conference to share and exchange information security techniques and expertise.

“IoT devices provide a cybersecurity environment that consists of a large number of different digital elements, which creates more vulnerable points of attack for cybercriminals. We believe that Cyber Immunity provides a new paradigm for how IT systems should be designed. Vietnam, with its tech-savvy population and high IoT adoption rate, provides the perfect conditions for Cyber Immunity solutions to be introduced,” said Genie Gan, Head of Government and Public Policy for Asia Pacific, Japan, Middle East, Turkey and Africa at Kaspersky. “That is why the conference, themed “Securing IoT devices with Cyber Immunity”, has received attention in the context of rapid hyperconnectivity in Vietnam.
The growing dependence on IoT coupled with vulnerabilities in these devices highlights the need for Cyber Immunity – an approach developed by Kaspersky that represents a security-by-design approach that addresses cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the early stages of software development. To realize the vision of Cyber Immunity, Kaspersky has developed its own operating system – KasperskyOS.
Andrey Suvorov, Head of KasperskyOS Business at Kaspersky, explained that Cyber Immunity works by separating IT systems into separate parts and managing how they interact with each other. He elaborated on the four benefits of Cyber Immunity:
● Cyber Immunity strengthens digital systems, making system operations more predictable and less prone to related failures or accidents.
● Cyber Immunity cuts costs associated with developing and supporting secure IT solutions. Even when using questionable third-party code, the Cyber Immunity system remains highly secure.
● Cyber Immunity solutions comply with regulatory standards: Common Criteria, ASPICE, ISO 26262 and others.
● KasperskyOS is designed to be scalable and attract like-minded partners. One of the components of KasperskyOS is Kaspersky Security System, which is flexible and can be set up in a variety of ways, depending on specific security needs.
“We are pleased that Kaspersky has continued its long-standing partnership with the Vietnamese government and has come up with viable solutions to address the real challenges posed by the proliferation of IoT devices,” said Tran Dang Khoa, Deputy Director General of the Information Security Department. “The workshop provided important technical insights to attendees from both the government and the private sector, who were inspired to build the foundation for the next generation of IoT security solutions.”
