On August 13, Mr. Pham Van Nguyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Dai Ward, Dak Lak Province confirmed that fisherman Tran Ngoc Thach (born in 1972, residing in Xuan Dai Ward) had just been rescued after 24 hours drifting at sea.
According to initial information, at around 4 p.m. on August 11, Mr. Thach and two other fishermen were fishing in the waters of Gia Lai province when their boat had an accident. At this time, Mr. Thach and two other fishermen had to jump into the sea and swim. The two fishermen were discovered early by another fishing boat and brought to shore safely, but Mr. Thach was missing.

On August 12, Mr. Thach's relatives posted information about him on social media, asking the community to share it and ask fishing boats to help search.
At about 4:20 p.m. on August 12, after more than 24 hours drifting at sea, Mr. Thach was discovered by a fishing boat, rescued, given first aid, and notified to the authorities for assistance, bringing him safely back to shore.
According to his family, after falling into the sea, he clung to a foam board. After many hours of drifting at sea, Mr. Thach was exhausted. At this time, Mr. Thach lay on the foam board and used a nail to hook his sleeve to prevent the waves from knocking him off the foam board. Thanks to that, he was safe until he was rescued.
“Mr. Thach was found in the sea of Quang Ngai province. Currently, Mr. Thach's health is stable and he is on his way home,” the Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Dai commune added.
