Mr. Viet bought a bottle of 32-year- old Macallan single malt whisky, which is over 1.8 m tall and has a capacity of 311 liters, for 1.1 million pounds (more than 33.5 billion VND) at an auction in Edinburgh, Scotland (UK) last year.

Mr. Viet added the above-mentioned whisky bottle, called Intrepid, to his collection in Ho Chi Minh City on August 31 along with a certificate from the Guinness World Records Organization confirming it as the world's largest bottle of alcohol.

The Guardian quoted businessman Viet as saying he was attracted to buy Intrepid "for three main reasons: it is the largest bottle in the world, it contains Macallan, and because I was inspired by the record-breaking achievements of the 11 explorers depicted on the label."

Daniel Monk, of drinks company Rosewin Holdings, which arranged the auction, said the world's largest bottle of whisky was named Intrepid in honour of the achievements of 11 pioneering British explorers, whose images are printed on the label.

As a long-time collector of rare wines, Mr. Viet owns many of the world's rarest and oldest bottles of cognac and whisky, according to The Guardian .

The Intrepid is the latest addition to Mr Viet's collection, estimated to be worth over £150 million. It includes rare Macallan collections around the world, including the 1926 "Fine and Rare". Only 40 bottles of the 1926 Macallan were ever sold, and Mr Viet owns three. One bottle sold for nearly £1.5 million in 2019.

Mr. Viet also owns the world's largest bottle of cognac and the oldest bottle of whisky, believed to be nearly 150 years old, according to The Guardian .
