Thunderstorms damaged 27 houses, causing property damage of nearly 400 million VND

(CT) - On July 22, 2025, the Steering Committee for Civil Defense - Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue (PTDS-PCTT&TKCN) of Can Tho City said: 27 households whose houses were damaged by thunderstorms on July 20 and 21 were supported to repair and rebuild new houses and stabilize their lives.

Rescue forces help people clean up and repair houses damaged by thunderstorms on the evening of July 20 in Trung Hung commune.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Can Tho City, the Standing Office and members of the City's Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue, and relevant localities and units directly directed local forces, shock forces, militia and self-defense forces, etc. to help households overcome the consequences of natural disasters, stabilize their lives, and ensure the safety of people and property. City leaders also directly surveyed the scene, visited, encouraged and supported 31 million VND for households affected by natural disasters in Trung Hung commune and Trung Nhut ward. The remaining households were supported to overcome the consequences according to regulations from the city's Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Fund.

Due to the impact of storm No. 3, on July 20 and 21, thunderstorms and tornadoes damaged 27 houses in Trung Nhut and Phuoc Thoi wards and Trung Hung, Thoi Hung, Truong Thanh and Dong Thuan communes in Can Tho City. One house collapsed completely. The natural disaster injured two people in Trung Hung commune, with estimated property damage of nearly VND400 million.

The Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of Can Tho City requires localities in the city to continue monitoring the development of natural disasters, reviewing damage, and promptly reporting to the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of the City and superior agencies for solutions and support. At the same time, when natural disasters occur, it is necessary to proactively respond and quickly overcome the consequences according to the motto "Four on-the-spot"; effectively implement social policies, do a good job of responding to and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. Strengthen information, propaganda, and dissemination of knowledge and experience in natural disaster prevention and control to the community.
