Binh Lieu is a typical land with many forestry trees of high economic value. In addition to star anise, cinnamon is also one of the crops that are particularly suitable for the soil here. With 2 harvests a year, from February to the end of March of the lunar calendar, cinnamon growers in Binh Lieu focus on the spring harvest.

These days, when we come to Binh Lieu, we can easily see forests crowded with people harvesting cinnamon. In the spring cinnamon harvest of 2025, in Huc Dong commune, the locality with the largest cinnamon growing area in Binh Lieu district, people are busy exploiting. From the end of March until now, Mr. Ly Van Chinh's house, Khe Mo village, Huc Dong commune, regularly hires 10-15 workers to harvest cinnamon in Thong Chau area. The entire cinnamon growing area that he planted since 2009 is now in the harvest stage.

Today is the 5th day of cinnamon peeling, so my family has harvested 10 tons of this year's crop. After deducting expenses, we earned 200 million VND. After harvesting cinnamon, the family will start planting new forests in time for the season.

Afforestation and forest economic development are strengths that bring jobs and income to the mountainous people in Binh Lieu. According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Binh Lieu district, the cinnamon growing area of the district is currently 690 hectares in 7 communes, of which the largest is Huc Dong commune with more than 412 hectares. During the annual cinnamon harvest season, not only cinnamon is peeled in the forest but also the purchasing points of households are equally busy. Cinnamon peeled in the forest is transported by households to purchasing points for sale, then cinnamon sticks are selected, classified, and peeled to dry. As for cinnamon chips, they are pre-processed and then dried. It turns out that households can harvest almost all of the cinnamon they grow.
