Lai Vung district is known as the “kingdom” of pink grapefruit. Thanks to its special suitability to the local soil, pink grapefruit has quickly become a unique local fruit with the brand name “Lai Vung pink grapefruit”.

Lai Vung pink tangerine season usually falls around the second half of December and the beginning of January. The time from when the tree bears fruit until it is ripe and can be harvested is about 1.5 months. Tangerines are grown mainly in 3 communes along the Hau River, namely Long Hau, Tan Phuoc and Tan Thanh communes in Lai Vung district (Dong Thap).

This is also the time when tangerine gardens open to visitors and start trading.

After harvesting, farmers will put the pomelos in baskets and bring them to the collection point.

At the gathering point, workers will carry out the process of classifying red grapefruits.

Pink grapefruit is classified into boxes according to traders' requirements and transported for consumption in regions across the country.

Currently, thousands of hectares of red tangerines are in the peak harvest season to serve the 2024 Lunar New Year market. What makes Lai Vung red tangerines famous, in addition to their delicious, sweet and beautiful quality, is that in recent years, gardeners in Lai Vung have also grown tangerines according to VietGAP standards, limiting the spraying of pesticides, and fertilizing according to a process that makes the fruit less susceptible to disease, ensuring safety for consumers. In addition, the fact that the Intellectual Property Office (Ministry of Science and Technology) has granted an exclusive trademark certificate, makes Lai Vung red tangerines an even more popular specialty fruit.
