On July 22, news from the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh province (GD&DT) said that Tran Minh Hoang, an 11th grade student at Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted, had just won a Silver Medal at the 2024 International Mathematics Olympiad, with 23 points, ranking second among the Vietnamese team.
Male student Tran Minh Hoang excellently won a Silver Medal at the 2024 International Mathematical Olympiad held in the UK.
The 65th International Mathematical Olympiad 2024 will be held in the UK, with 609 contestants from 109 countries and territories. The contestants will take part in 2 official exam days with a duration of 4.5 hours/day.
According to the regulations, the Organizing Committee officially awarded prizes to 50% of the participating contestants. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded certificates of merit to students who achieved the maximum score on a math problem.
In 2024, the Vietnamese team participating in the International Mathematical Olympiad had 6 students participating. As a result, the Vietnamese team won 5 medals (2 silver medals, 3 bronze medals) and 1 certificate of merit.
With Tran Minh Hoang's Silver Medal, this is the third consecutive year that Ha Tinh Education and Training Department has had students win international medals.
