Improve the efficiency of border gate management

The Border Guard of Quang Tri province is assigned to manage many border gates on the land and sea borders. To effectively manage the border gates, the unit has implemented synchronous and effective solutions. This not only contributes to ensuring security and order, fighting against law violations in border areas, promoting exchanges and socio-economic development, but also strengthens foreign affairs and develops the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

Political Commissar of Cua Viet Port Border Guard Station, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Anh said: Along with good management of the 15.85 km long sea border area passing through Trung Giang and Gio Hai communes and Cua Viet town, Gio Linh district, the unit is interested in synchronously implementing solutions to improve the management efficiency of Cua Viet Port Border Gate.

In particular, regularly grasp and effectively implement resolutions, directives and plans on border gate work; strictly maintain the leadership regulations on border gate work of the unit's Party Committee. Do a good job of inspection and supervision procedures, create open and favorable conditions for businesses in accordance with regulations in the spirit of administrative reduction of the Government . Pay attention to training on border gate work for border gate officers and employees to improve their qualifications and capacity, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation.

“In addition, the unit has done a good job of grasping the situation, improving the professional work at the border gate, effectively handling problems occurring at the border gate. Closely and effectively coordinating with functional forces at the border gate to inspect, supervise, and handle incidents. Paying attention to political education , principles, working style, and manners in the conduct of the staff. Thanks to that, the unit's border gate management work has been carried out effectively,” Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Anh shared.

Recognizing the importance of border gate management, over the years, Lao Bao International Border Gate Border Guard Station has continuously improved the qualifications and skills of its staff and soldiers working at the border gate; maintained a disciplined training regime, and improved professional skills, focusing on issues such as: checking and controlling passports, specialized documents, principles and procedures for immigration and emigration, behavior and working style; and improved foreign language and information technology skills, management, and exploitation of border gate technical equipment.

Actively coordinate with forces at the border gate and Lao forces to develop plans and effectively implement border gate management work in accordance with the functions and tasks of each force. Link border gate management work with other border guard tasks, especially crime prevention, border diplomacy, etc.

Only when being present at La Lay International Border Gate can one fully see the hardships of border guards and soldiers when performing their duties when the number of heavy trucks carrying import and export goods, especially coal, is very large while the infrastructure is narrow and many items are under construction.

“The unit regularly does a good job of political and ideological work, assigns more troops, and works overtime to perform tasks, ensuring strict inspection, control, registration, regulation, and flow of vehicles carrying goods in and out of the border gate area.

At the same time, we need to do a good job of applying information technology, improving the way of working, raising the sense of responsibility of officers and soldiers in performing their duties; investing in installing a system of information and instruction signs in three languages: Vietnamese, Lao, and English at the border gate to facilitate businesses, people and tourists," said Major Tran Ngoc Hoat, Head of the Border Control Station, La Lay International Border Gate Border Guard Station. Along with that, we need to do a good job of grasping the situation in all aspects, synchronously implementing professional measures to manage and maintain security and order at the border gate; promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle violations in the field of entry and exit and causing insecurity and disorder in the border gate area.

“The company’s coal shipment from Laos to Vietnam through La Lay International Border Gate is very large, but we always receive enthusiastic and thoughtful guidance and support in all aspects from border guards and soldiers. This is an important condition for the company to carry out its activities well,” said Mr. Tran Nam Khanh, representative of Hoanh Son Group Joint Stock Company.

According to Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command and Political Commissar of the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command, Colonel Dinh Xuan Hung, these results were achieved in the context of increasing traffic of people, transit vehicles, imported and exported goods across the border and border gates; crimes, especially drugs, human trafficking, explosives, smuggling, illegal entry and exit, are increasingly complicated and sophisticated... The Party Committee and Command of the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard have synchronously and effectively implemented policies and measures. Notably, on the basis of Resolution 84-NQ/DU of the Party Committee of the Border Guard Command on improving the quality and effectiveness of border gate work of the Border Guard in the new situation, the Provincial Border Guard Party Committee has built, led and directed the effective implementation of Resolution 03-NQ/DU on improving the quality of border gate management work of the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard in the new situation.

Focus on building a team of officers and employees at border gates with sufficient quantity, good political and moral qualities, capacity and experience, considering this as the key step, deciding the quality and effectiveness of border gate management work... Thereby, well meeting the requirements and tasks of managing, protecting national border security and sovereignty and international integration.
