On the morning of July 1, in Da Nang, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics coordinated with the Press Department ( Ministry of Information and Communications ) to open a training conference on human rights for reporters and editors of press agencies and news agencies in the central region.

Implementing Directive No. 34/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on strengthening the implementation of the Project on incorporating human rights content into the education program in the national education system, the training course was organized with the aim of updating knowledge and information on human rights and human rights education, thereby improving the capacity of reporters and editors in performing their important political tasks. Participating in the training course on human rights were lecturers and experts from the Institute of Human Rights (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics) and the Ministry of Information and Communications, along with more than 30 reporters and editors from central and local press agencies in the central region.

Speaking at the training session, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Loi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Head of the Human Rights Education Project Executive Board, said that human rights education plays a particularly important role in raising social awareness, preventing and limiting violations of rights; providing knowledge and equipping skills to help each person correctly perceive the meaning and value of rights, thereby knowing how to protect their own rights, comply with the law and respect the dignity, rights and freedoms of others. Media and press institutions play a very important role in protecting, ensuring and promoting human rights through methods such as: communicating and orienting public opinion on human rights; being a forum for people's freedom of speech; providing and ensuring access to information; detecting and condemning violations of human rights; setting examples of typical examples in the fight to protect human rights; fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints in the field of human rights;… Therefore, reporters and editors of press agencies and news agencies must have a firm grasp of theoretical, legal and practical issues on human rights in order to perform their duties well.
