On the night of August 20, the Russian army launched a new offensive on the rear areas of Ukraine. Targets included fuel depots, military airports, and logistics centers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces across the country.
The Ukrainian Air Force claimed that Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 25 of the 26 Russian drones, one of the three Iskander-M missiles and two Kh-59 missiles. However, the images released to the public and the official statements of the local authorities later showed that there were losses.
According to SF, Russia launched a combined attack and caused large explosions in the Kyiv, Sumy, Ternopil, Dnepropetrovsk, Vinnytsya and Khmelnitsky regions.

Russian precision strikes were also confirmed in the village of Kotelva in the Poltava region. Public video footage showed a fire at a Ukrainian military logistics center. A series of explosions were also recorded in the city of Pokrovsk in the Dnepropetrovsk region. The city has been frequently attacked by Russia as it is another important logistics center for Ukraine. It is used to supply Ukrainian troops operating on the front lines in Donbass.
Ukrainian authorities confirmed that at least two Russian drones attacked targets in the Vinnytsia region. This was followed by reports of explosions in the city of Vinnytsia and the town of Tulchin.
In the Khmelnitsky region, Russian drones also carried out an attack on a military airport. Several other attacks were reported in the capital Kyiv. This is the third consecutive night of explosions in the Kyiv region.
On the front lines, the Russian military also continues to launch attacks against the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Last night, Russian airstrikes were reported in the city of Kremenchug and across the Sumy region, where the Ukrainian military has massed forces to attack Russian territory.
