Watching the torpedoes and mines of the Vietnam People's Navy

The torpedo and mine array of the Vietnam People's Navy has attracted the attention of people in recent days at the outdoor exhibition area of ​​the National Achievements Exhibition (Dong Anh commune, Hanoi).

First of all, we must mention the 53PA torpedo. This is a gas-powered torpedo with a homing head, combined explosive device, moving underwater; used to destroy surface ships, surface submarines and floating structures of the enemy.

In terms of specifications, the 53PA torpedo has a diameter of 533.4 mm, is 7.9 m long, and weighs 1.9 tons (containing 210 kg of explosives). The maximum range of the torpedo is 11 km, and the speed is 29 nautical miles/hour.

The operating depth when firing combat ranges from 6 - 8 m, the search mode is from 12 - 16 m. The compressed air volume equipped for the torpedo is 745 liters, ensuring stable operation during movement and attack.

Next to the 53PA torpedo is the SET-40UE practice torpedo. The SET-40UE torpedo is a small-sized anti-submarine electric torpedo, used by anti-submarine surface ships and submarines equipped with small launchers.

Meanwhile, practice torpedoes are weapons used for practice firing and training, launched during exercises by submarines or surface ships.

The SET-40UE practice torpedo has a diameter of 400 mm, a length of 4.8 m, a practice firing weight of 490 kg, and a warhead weight of 80 kg. The torpedo has a cruising speed of 29 nautical miles/hour; a cruising range of 7.5 km; a depth of 20 - 200 m; and a maximum firing depth from a submarine of 150 m.

The underwater target product is researched and produced by Vietnam. This is a type of hydroacoustic target used for training, hunting and anti-submarine exercises of the Navy.

This device has a diameter of 356 mm, length of 3.55 m, weight of 320 kg, maximum working depth of 100 m; maximum cruising speed of 4 knots.

The underwater target can operate independently, semi-automatically, manually or in case of an accident. The hydroacoustic transmission and reception frequency range is 0.6 - 85 kHz, and can connect to a radio control station and optical fiber. The continuous operation time is 6 hours.

MДМ-1 Мoд.1 mine is a multi-channel non-contact bottom mine, used to destroy surface ships and submarines with displacement of 500 tons or more (destroy surface ships at depths up to 40 m, destroy submarines at depths of 120 m).

This torpedo weighs 960 kg, has an explosive mass of 746 kg; is 2.86 m long, and has a diameter of 534 mm. The torpedo can be dropped under the sea for 1 year.
