Banks guide how to link transport accounts before October 1

Before the regulation requiring the use of a traffic account when passing through ETC stations from October 1, Vietcombank, Agribank, VietinBank, and BIDV issued instructions on how to link with VETC, ePass, and Viettel Money wallets.

According to Decree 119/2024 of the Government regulating electronic payment for road traffic, from October 1, all vehicles passing through non-stop toll stations (ETC) nationwide are required to use traffic accounts.

Traffic accounts are identity-based accounts linked to non-cash payment methods such as e-wallets or international credit cards. If the conversion is not made, vehicles will not be able to travel on highways that apply non-stop toll collection.

Up to now, there are only 3 payment methods that meet the requirements including Viettel Money, international credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, JCB, Amex) and VETC wallet.

To facilitate, service providers have expanded their connections. VETC currently connects directly with 12 major banks, and allows deposits from 32 other domestic banks via ATM cards. ePass supports connections with Viettel Money and Visa cards, making the conversion only take about 5-10 minutes of operation on the application.

Currently, the 4 "big" banks are Vietcombank , Agribank , VietinBank, BIDV quickly issued detailed instructions on linking accounts for customers.

Accordingly, customers who want to link their Vietcombank account to their VETC wallet can perform basic operations. Start by logging into the VETC app, then select the menu icon on the left side of the screen and select "Wallet Balance".

Next, select "Add link", then select the bank to link. Enter and double-check your personal information and click "Continue". Verify on the banking app to receive a successful link notification.

The way to deposit money from Vietcombank account to VETC is also quite simple. When logging into the VETC app, select "Deposit". Then select the source of money, enter information and verify the transaction.

With VietinBank, customers log in to the VETC app, select “Link bank account”, select VietinBank, enter information and authenticate OTP. Customers who open a new eKYC account will receive incentives of up to 250,000 VND and service discounts on VietinBank iPay Mobile.

Agribank also allows direct linking of VETC or Viettel Money wallets to customer accounts. With VETC, you log in to the application, select “Link bank”, fill in information and authenticate OTP. With ePass, you need to link Viettel Money, then connect the Agribank account.

BIDV customers need to authenticate their chip-embedded citizen ID and link their account in the VETC wallet. With ePass, customers must open or link Viettel Money, then connect to their BIDV account.
