The story of Nghe Vet and its connection with the Trinh dynasty:

Legend has it that during the reign of Trinh Kiem, his mother was murdered by the Mac army and thrown into the river. Strangely, wherever her body floated, a large flock of parrots flew over and covered it like a cloud. The villagers who witnessed this strange event recovered the body and buried it. The burial site later emerged as a mound in the middle of the river, which is considered a "sky burial". The parrots continued to fly around the area for a long time before flying away.

To commemorate his mother and acknowledge this strange omen, Trinh Kiem built a temple here and named it Nghe Vet. Since then, the parrot has become a sacred symbol of the Trinh family.

Nghe Vet and 12 generations of Trinh Lords:

The Parrot Temple is not only a place to worship Trinh Kiem's mother but also a place to worship the 12 Trinh lords. According to the elders in the area, in the past, there were 12 statues and 12 large wooden parrots in the temple, symbolizing the 12 lords.
