The ban on cars passing through Binh Trieu 1 Bridge to serve the construction of raising the clearance of Binh Trieu 1 Bridge on National Highway 13 causes traffic congestion and difficulty moving on both Binh Trieu 1 and 2 Bridges during rush hour.

Speaking with SGGP Newspaper reporters, the Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center (HCMC Department of Construction - investor) said that to limit traffic congestion, functional forces are currently on duty to regulate traffic pressure, and at the same time recommend that people choose alternative routes to avoid traffic jam hotspots.
According to this unit, since August 26, when the clearance of Binh Trieu 1 Bridge on Highway 13 and Binh Phuoc 1 Bridge on Highway 1 was raised, the traffic situation on Highway 13 and neighboring routes has changed a lot. Especially during rush hour, the Binh Trieu 1 Bridge branch and Pham Van Dong Street often fall into a state of serious congestion. Faced with this reality, the construction unit and the authorities have implemented many solutions to reduce traffic pressure.

Enhance remote traffic diversion: Traffic police forces coordinate with traffic inspectors to place signs and instruction boards right at the beginning of Xo Viet Nghe Tinh, Dinh Bo Linh, Nguyen Xi routes... so that drivers can grasp and proactively choose alternative routes. Early traffic diversion helps reduce pressure on the bridge area.
Flexible traffic regulation on Binh Trieu 2 Bridge. Currently, Binh Trieu 2 Bridge is carrying the majority of the automobile traffic. The construction unit has installed a hard divider to clearly divide the lanes: automobiles travel in separate lanes, while 2-3 wheel vehicles have separate lanes. This solution limits traffic conflicts, helps vehicles move slowly but steadily, avoiding jostling.
Mobilize forces to be on duty regularly. Traffic police and contractor's traffic controllers are directly stationed at hot spots, especially the Binh Trieu 1 bridge ramp turning onto Pham Van Dong street and the area near the wedding restaurant. The presence of functional forces not only supports traffic flow but also promptly handles arising situations, limiting prolonged congestion.
Adjust the construction time appropriately. Some items are arranged to be done at night or outside of rush hours to reduce the impact on daytime traffic. This is also a way to shorten the progress and put the project into operation soon.
Strengthen information to the people. The Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center regularly broadcasts announcements on newspapers, television and social networks to keep people updated on the situation. At the same time, drivers are advised to choose alternative routes and limit going to the Binh Trieu bridge area during rush hour if not necessary. At the same time, the authorities set up groups on zalo to report the situation, coordinate support and promptly handle traffic incidents and collisions in the area.

During more than 3 months of construction, cars were banned from traveling on Binh Trieu 1 bridge, motorbikes were still allowed to go normally.
The alternative route for cars includes 2 directions:
Route 1: Xo Viet Nghe Tinh – National Highway 13 – Binh Trieu 2 Bridge – Pham Van Dong – National Highway 13.
Route 2: Xo Viet Nghe Tinh – National Highway 13 – Dinh Bo Linh – Nguyen Xi – Pham Van Dong – National Highway 13.
At the same time, Binh Trieu 2 bridge is organized for two-way traffic: From Dinh Bo Linh to Pham Van Dong: reserved for cars, banning 2-3 wheel vehicles.
In the opposite direction, from Pham Van Dong to Dinh Bo Linh: Right lane for 2-3 wheel vehicles and cars. Lane next to the median strip for all types of cars.
