Looking at the flat fields and modernly invested canals, the people are very excited. Now, there are no longer high and low fields like before, the synchronous investment in the internal irrigation system will help people sow and plant conveniently. Hopefully, this spring crop will yield more than previous crops.”

It is known that Duc Lien commune is the first locality in the mountainous district of Vu Quang to implement the demolition of land banks and plot banks on an area of nearly 70 hectares to implement the policy of land conversion and reducing the number of plots on a field.

Mr. Le Van Hung - Chairman of Duc Lien Commune People's Committee said: "Implementing Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU dated November 18, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on leadership and direction of land concentration and accumulation associated with new rural construction in the period of 2021 - 2025 and the following years, the district has selected the local rice fields for implementation. Up to now, after nearly 5 months of implementation, the locality has improved the ground of nearly 70 hectares of rice fields in Dong Voi area in three villages: Binh Quang, Tan Le, Lien Chau. Currently, the division of rice fields to the people has been completed".

In Duc Linh commune, local people and authorities are focusing on dredging irrigation canals within the fields. Pump systems and sluice gates are also being maintained, repaired and overhauled to meet the irrigation and drainage needs of the people. Up to now, the commune has basically completed dredging 100% of the irrigation canal system within the fields, ready to serve spring crop production.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tham (Cua Linh village, Duc Linh commune) said: "This year, the irrigation system was deployed early, the water source for production is abundant, so my family has less hardship than before. This crop, my family has 8 sao of land, the land has been prepared, now we just have to wait for the day to plant according to the scheduled time frame."

Mr. Phan Xuan Nam - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vu Quang district said: "For rice production, this year, the district will not structure one variety to more than 30% of the area. Mass varieties that have been produced for many years and have stable productivity such as: N98, Khang Dan, Xuan Mai 12 will continue to be used. In addition, groups of varieties with high yield and quality such as: DT39, CT16, Thai Xuyen, BT09, ADI 168... will continue to be prioritized. According to the timetable, the whole district will start planting spring rice from January 15, 2024 and end before February 8, 2024".

Up to now, the plowed area of the district has reached more than 90%; the volume of irrigation excavation and embankment of the district has reached over 95% of the plan.
