A large two-color Perseid meteor streak in the sky of Phu Yen early this morning, August 13, was captured by Nguyen Ba Tuyen, Ho Chi Minh City Amateur Astronomy Club (HAAC). To watch the peak of this meteor shower, the HAAC team traveled from Ho Chi Minh City to Quy Nhon and Phu Yen, choosing the ideal location to enjoy the "party" of light in the sky.

Ms. Nguyen Kha Ly in the HAAC group said that this time the group watching the meteor shower had 8 people including 4 adults and 4 children. "Not only the HAAC members, but our group also included the family of Mr. Tam, a teacher working at Tran Phu High School (Tuy An, Phu Yen). It was a wonderful time to watch, the weather was extremely favorable. During the night of watching the meteor shower, the whole group saw about 200 streaks, some of which were long and bright in the sky, everyone was excited", Ms. Kha Ly shared and added that this was one of the most wonderful and impressive times watching the meteor shower for her.

“With the naked eye, I could see a lot of streaks. However, not all of them were in my frame. This was truly an interesting night of watching the meteor shower,” Hiep added.

Vo Duc Quan, a student in Ninh Phuoc District ( Ninh Thuan ), also spent many hours watching the Perseids meteor shower on the night of its peak. Quan said that because of limited visibility, he could not see many streaks, but it was still an interesting experience to capture the meteors.

The photo on the left was taken by Khanh Linh, an international student, in the sky over Bristol (UK). Khanh Linh said that during the 2 hours of stargazing, she saw about 10 meteors streaking by, of which 2-3 were long. "I had observed before, but early Sunday morning it was cloudy and I couldn't see anything. This morning the clouds were less cloudy," she said. The photo on the right was taken by Tran Huu Thinh in Ca Mau early this morning.
