On September 20, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , the leader of the People's Committee of Chanh Hiep Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, said that he had conducted a field survey and sent invitations to two households in the case of "wrongly building a house on someone else's land". It is expected that next Wednesday (September 24), the homeowner and landowner will attend a mediation session at the ward.
Tuoi Tre Online spoke with Mr. Th., who currently lives in the above house and claims to be the homeowner (Mr. Th. said the land title was registered in his family's name).
Mr. Th. explained that he had built the house on his neighbor's land because he had hired a contractor on a "turnkey" basis. It was not until the landowner, Ms. Vo Thu Thao, came to talk to him that he realized he had built the house in the wrong location on his neighbor's land.
Mr. Th. said he had received the ward's invitation and wanted to reconcile. He also said he was willing to swap land with his neighbor if they agreed on the price and the difference. The wrongly built plot of land was more than 71 square meters wide, while Mr. Th.'s plot was a corner plot, more than 191 square meters wide, the two plots were next to each other.
In case the exchange price cannot be negotiated, Mr. Th. will hire a "genie" to move the house. According to Mr. Th., he asked the construction company to survey and quote the price, the cost of hiring a "genie" is a bit high, but in case the land exchange cannot be negotiated, he will be forced to move the house.
"I was wrong so I'm willing to negotiate to resolve it, there's no need to go to court" - Mr. Th. said.
Ms. Vo Thu Thao (33 years old, from Vinh Long province), the owner of the wrongly built plot of land, said that she and her husband wanted the matter to be resolved soon, because it had been many months since the discovery of the wrong construction. Ms. Thao had submitted a petition to the local authorities requesting intervention to resolve the matter.
As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , the leader of the People's Committee of Chanh Hiep Ward, Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Dinh Hoa Ward, Binh Duong Province) said that he had received a petition from Ms. Vo Thu Thao about her family having a house built on her land by mistake.
Ms. Thao said that she and her husband bought plot 813, map sheet 82 on DX066 street, area 71.4m2 in 2024. On June 14, 2025, when her family came to check the land to prepare to build a house, they discovered that the neighbor had built a house on their land.
Upon discovering the incident, Mrs. Thao discussed with her neighbor (who built the wrong building) to find a solution. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hanh (55 years old) was the one who negotiated with Mrs. Thao.
After many discussions, both sides came up with solutions but all failed. Ms. Hanh then asked for 3 weeks to move the house that was mistakenly built on Ms. Thao's land.
However, after many promises, Ms. Hanh still has not moved, so on September 17, Ms. Thao's family sent a letter to the person who built the wrong house, requesting that the land be returned to her family immediately.
