The EducationUSA Office of the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City recently organized the Fall 2025 EducationUSA Fair, attracting many students to learn about study opportunities in the US.
Ho Chi Minh City students participate in the US education fair fall 2025 on September 26
Sharing at the exhibition, US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Melissa A. Brown said that in 2024 alone, there were more than 36,000 Vietnamese students studying in the US, contributing significantly to the more than 1 million international students studying at universities and colleges in this country.
The Open Doors 2024 report said that in the 2023-2024 academic year, there will be 22,066 Vietnamese students studying at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the US, of which nearly half of the students choose STEM majors, contributing to promoting Vietnam's goal of developing human resources in high-tech industries.
The states with the largest number of Vietnamese students include California, Texas, Massachusetts, Washington and New York.
Students from Vietnam not only contribute to building stronger cultural and educational relations between the two countries but also bring practical economic benefits.
Specifically, in the 2023-2024 school year, Vietnamese students contributed more than $1 billion to the US economy. In addition, the US also highly values the academic and cultural contributions of Vietnamese students.
"The US currently has more than 4,500 accredited universities and colleges with a variety of study programs, majors and locations. The study abroad exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City alone has the participation of 60 schools, representing the excellent quality of the US higher education system" - informed the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietnam currently has the 6th largest number of international students in the US and ranks first among ASEAN countries.
Going forward, the United States will continue to maintain its commitment to the Fulbright program, an international educational exchange program that creates opportunities for U.S. citizens to study, teach, or conduct research abroad, while also supporting Vietnamese scholars and professionals pursuing these activities in the United States.
In 2025, the Fulbright program will have 47 Vietnamese people studying and researching in the US and 48 American scholars and students working and studying in Vietnam.
Be careful when using services from educational consulting companies
Through the EducationUSA Office, the U.S. Mission to Vietnam provides free, accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date information about study opportunities at accredited educational institutions in the United States. Students and parents with questions about the U.S. visa process should visit travel.state.gov for accurate and up-to-date information.
EducationUSA recommends that students and parents should not use the services of unreliable educational consulting companies that claim to be able to assist with US student visa applications.
