Always want to be close to students
Dear musician, in a year with many important events of the country, you have participated in many exchange programs with many different age groups. However, when coming to school students, how do you feel?
Going to schools and talking, interacting, singing with students is something I have long wanted to do and have done for many years. I have been to 60 kindergartens and primary schools in Ho Chi Minh City to teach singing, spreading the message of love for family, teachers, school and to 60 high schools to inspire children about their dreams and passion after graduation.

Through songs, I hope to convey meaningful messages and positive values in life to students. Listening and singing, they are sown with seeds of love, learning to love themselves, their parents, their teachers, their friends, their school… And above all, nurturing their love for their homeland and country.
The children's songs, I initially wrote with the intention of enriching the theme of my music career. But when I saw the strong and direct impact the songs had on children, I told myself to write more and more.
There are mothers who texted me to say thank you because after listening to and singing songs about love between parents, their children have learned to express their feelings more. Or in the family, fathers often rarely express their feelings to their children, but after listening to songs, they often express their feelings in words such as: "Dad loves you, Dad loves you". Clearly, the songs have brought great value, arousing love, thereby changing the way of life, living happier.
Seeing those impacts, I wanted to convey more messages and that was also the reason to write music about love for the country.
As a student of History, I honestly found memorizing numbers boring. At that time, there were no modern tools or equipment to support listening, watching, and absorbing historical events in the most natural way.
As a musician, having the opportunity to go to schools to teach singing and interact with students, the musician often shares what inspirations and emotions he has when writing, what he wants to spread so that students can be more interested in the subject. If calling on students to love their country is dry, but when they love a song, impressed by the lyrics, they will find out for themselves that they love the beauty of their homeland, love peace . I think that is also a very good and effective way of education.
Show students that behind the glory is hardship
From this school year, the education sector has a policy of inviting artists, athletes, and experts to teach in schools. As an artist, what do you think about this policy?
I have wanted this initiative for a long time, so I am very supportive and willing to arrange my time to participate. I have been to more than 100 schools to teach children to sing and give books. And the images and stories of the children are also the material for musicians to continue composing.
In my interactions with students, I want to show them the reality of the work and life of an artist, bridging the gap between theory and practice. Students can directly exchange, meet, and listen to the experiences of singers, artists, athletes, etc.

It is not true that students are more interested in learning directly with artists than with music teachers in class. However, if given the opportunity, students will be exposed to people who have experience and practical experience in music, which will give them a more multi-dimensional and interesting perspective.
For example, for a long time everyone thought that being a singer is a great job, you get to dress nicely, drive a car, and get paid a lot, but children also need to hear and understand that to get 5 minutes on stage, people have to go through years of hard training to have a correct view of the profession.
When I was in school, the songs selected for the textbooks were very good. Perhaps, textbooks are different now. However, I think that we need to increase the number of songs that are more fresh and modern, so that students can quickly absorb the messages conveyed in them.
Or listening to the sharing of musicians, students will know that, besides singing the right lyrics and music, in each song, the writer wants to convey a message. Teaching children to express love for their parents, nature, love for peace... through songs is also a more proactive learning method.
In the past, when I was in school, the songs selected for the textbooks were very good. Perhaps, the textbooks are different now, but I think that we need to increase the number of songs that are more fresh and modern, so that students will quickly absorb the messages conveyed in them.
According to you, what conditions and mechanisms are needed to encourage the policy of bringing artists to schools to teach and exchange more?
I think that in order to bring artists to schools to teach and exchange, schools need to have flexibility in their programs. Actually, up to now, I have participated in extracurricular teaching and exchange, but mainly in private schools and international schools.
Implementing this policy in public schools will face some difficulties in terms of time, scheduling and funding. There needs to be a mechanism and policy to ensure that inviting artists to schools can be maintained in a stable and long-term manner.
I feel that it is extremely practical because it creates excitement for students to learn and from there meaningful messages will reach them in the most natural and closest way.
