Catching the trend
In recent years, the strong development of information technology, especially online learning platforms and huge learning resources on the internet, has created many opportunities for students to access new knowledge.
Students no longer depend entirely on textbooks and direct lectures from teachers in class, but can refer to online lectures from teachers everywhere.
This reality poses an urgent requirement for teachers to constantly innovate teaching methods to play a leading role, orienting and inspiring students to learn.
Hung Vuong Secondary School (Tuy Hoa Ward) is fully equipped with computers, facilitating teaching and learning in the digital age. |
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung, an English teacher at Tran Binh Trong High School (Phu Hoa 1 Commune), shared: “Nowadays, students can easily find English lectures, reading, listening, and writing exercises online with various levels and presentation styles. If the teacher's lectures are not different or not as attractive as online lectures, they will certainly not create interest for students. Therefore, we innovate teaching methods to make lessons more attractive. This school year, the school moved to a new facility, all classrooms are fully equipped with equipment, including TVs and computers, creating many advantages for teachers in applying technology and AI in teaching."
In an era where students can learn from many different sources, teachers proactively upgrading themselves is no longer a choice, but a necessity. Each initiative, each innovative lesson is a way for teachers to affirm their irreplaceable role.
"With a proactive and responsible spirit, the team of teachers is gradually building the image of teachers who are knowledgeable in their field and proficient in technology, both to impart knowledge and to guide students to find knowledge in the huge repository of learning materials in the digital age" - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Vo Thi Minh Duyen. |
According to the provincial Department of Education and Training, the initial digital transformation process has created positive spillovers among teachers. However, difficulties still exist, especially in places with weak infrastructure and limited funding. Therefore, in addition to the efforts of each teacher, the support of local authorities, parents and the whole society is needed.
Affirming the role of teachers
Digital transformation of education is not just about bringing computers and projectors into the classroom, but is also a process of fundamentally changing the way of approaching knowledge. Teachers not only need to upgrade their technological skills, but also need to innovate their pedagogical thinking. In the past, teaching methods focused on imparting knowledge, but now the requirement is to stimulate students' self-study and research abilities, requiring teachers to play the role of organizers and guides.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bao Nguyen, Vice Principal of Hung Vuong Secondary School (Tuy Hoa Ward), said: “Digital transformation in education is a mandatory trend, both teachers and students cannot stay out of it. In order for students to catch up with new requirements, teachers must be one step ahead, teachers must proactively upgrade their knowledge, skills and teaching and communication methods. Therefore, in recent times, the school has coordinated with a number of technology centers in Hanoi and Khanh Hoa to open training classes and foster digital capacity for staff and teachers with the goal of improving their technology skills... At the school, young, technology-savvy teachers are the force that supports older colleagues in accessing new technology and getting familiar with teaching preparation software. Everyone learns, shares and improves their professional capacity together.”
Teachers are changing the way they teach to adapt to the digital learning environment. |
If in the past teachers only taught knowledge, now they also become guides, helping students know how to approach and select lessons... Ms. Dinh Thi Hanh, a Literature teacher at Phan Boi Chau High School (Son Hoa commune), confided: "Standing in front of the class, I not only tell literary stories or explain works, but also guide students on how to find documents, how to read and understand, how to write. That helps them know how to self-study and be more creative. This is a huge change in the teaching profession today."
It is worth noting that during the learning process, students themselves also contribute to promoting change in teachers. With the ability to quickly access technology, students often give feedback and suggestions to teachers on teaching methods. Tran Ngoc Tram, an 11th grade student at Nguyen Hue High School (Tuy Hoa ward), said: “When teachers apply online games to review, we feel very excited. Many times, we also discuss with her how to use new applications. Thanks to that, class time becomes more fun and effective. With the support of technology, we often watch more lectures online, especially YouTube channels or online learning applications, but we do not always understand and grasp all the knowledge. Meanwhile, in class, in addition to imparting knowledge in textbooks, teachers also guide us on how to study and select information. I find this combination very necessary.”
