Musician La Van Cuong passed away

The funeral of musician La Van Cuong was held at Vang Sanh Duong, Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh City. The burial ceremony took place at 12:30 on November 30. The burial ceremony was held at 5:30 on December 2, after which the coffin was cremated at Binh Hung Hoa Funeral Center.

Musician La Van Cuong is the author of many beloved songs such as Co doi khi, Vuon yeu, Ngoc biec, Khuc chia xa, Dinh menh...

He was born in 1957 and joined the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Volunteer Force (TNXP) very early, working in many localities such as Dak Nong - Dak Min, Duyen Hai farm (Can Gio) or Tri An reservoir hydroelectric area... before returning to work in Ho Chi Minh City.

Having a talent for music , during his youth volunteer activities, La Van Cuong shone with many songs written about the activities of this green-shirt force. Among them, the song On the Road of Life of Mr. became the main song of the famous movie Ngoc Trong Da, a movie about the youth volunteer force, making an impression with the first role of actress Viet Trinh and the participation of Miss Ly Thu Thao.

In particular, from his compositions, musician La Van Cuong met singer Hong Nhung, one of the singers who performed his compositions most successfully.

The couple La Van Cuong - Hong Nhung had great success with the album Suddenly Listening to You Sing (10 love songs by La Van Cuong and Tran Quang Loc), Garden of Love, Words of Eternal Call... or songs like Familiar Fragrance, Why Don't You Come Back, Roi Co Thoi, Khuc Chia Xa, Garden of Love, Co Doi Khich, Ngoc Biec, Tieng Goi Mien Xua, Bai Ca Buon... and became a one-time phenomenon of Vietnamese music.

Besides composing, musician La Van Cuong is also known for his role as a benefactor to many artists when he was the Director of Lang Ong - Ba Chieu relic site. He has turned the relic site into a destination for art programs. Many poetry and music nights by artists such as Vu Ngoc Giao, Chau Dang Khoa, Doan Vi Thuong, Bui Chi Vinh, Tran Van Hung, Mai Tran, Tran Tien, Phan Vu... were held here.

After retiring, La Van Cuong still remained involved in music, participating in activities organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Musicians Association. According to his family, he left behind a legacy of more than 400 songs with many themes such as love, building the homeland, traveling songs, historical songs, folk songs, Zen songs, etc.
