Realizing this issue, over the years, relevant units have increased cooperation in training human resources for the project. The authorities have proposed support policies to help local workers have the opportunity to study and work at the airport.
Training cooperation
Over the past 2 years, Lilama 2 International Technology College (Lilama 2 College, Long Phuoc Commune, Dong Nai Province) has cooperated with 3 leading enterprises in the aviation sector including: Vietnam Airports Corporation, Aircraft Engineering One Member Limited Liability Company and Saigon Ground Services Joint Stock Company to train in professions (college level) such as: Repair and maintenance of aircraft; repair and operation of ground service equipment; repair and maintenance of equipment in airport clusters. The training courses attract many students. During the study period, in addition to theory, students also practice at the school and businesses. In 2026, the first students participating in the course will graduate.
According to student Tran Hoang Thai Bao (B2 level aircraft maintenance course, Lilama 2 School), during his studies at the school, in addition to theory, he also practiced on aircraft models and became familiar with the equipment used at the airport. Fully equipped with theory and practice, he is confident that after graduation, he will be able to meet the job requirements at Long Thanh airport.
Dr. Le Quang Trung, Chairman of the Board of Lilama 2 School, said that the standard for participating in aviation-related courses at Lilama 2 School is that students must have graduated from high school; the school will consider admission. Aviation labor training is a special field with strict standards, requiring a lot of equipment for practice. During the training cooperation process, the school and the enterprise have jointly built a curriculum for both theory and practice. The enterprise also sent people directly to the school to convey to students issues related to future work; ensuring that students are fully equipped with knowledge and skills in the aviation field upon graduation.
Dr. Le Quang Trung emphasized that the aviation training program at Lilama 2 School is divided into 2 phases. In the first 2 years, students study at the school; in the final year, they will participate in learning and experience at businesses to approach and practice on specific equipment of the aviation industry. This helps students to be fully equipped with knowledge, and upon graduation, they can meet job positions at the airport.

Human resources determine the success of the project.
According to the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), Long Thanh airport is built on an area of 5,000 hectares with a capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year when all phases are completed. This is a strategic project, aiming to become the leading air transit center in the region and the world . Currently, the airport is accelerating construction, ensuring that it will receive the first technical flight in December 2025; and put into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026. When operating, Long Thanh airport will need thousands of workers with qualifications from high school to university.
For the airport to operate effectively, the key factor is not only infrastructure and technology but also people. Identifying human resources as the decisive factor for the success of Long Thanh airport, Vietnam Airports Corporation and large enterprises in the aviation industry have opened many channels to recruit human resources to serve the project. The process of recruiting workers to work at the airport is carried out publicly. Units prioritize recruiting young, qualified, enthusiastic people, who are locals who have given up land to implement the project. After being recruited, workers are further trained by enterprises, brought to airports to get acquainted with the work and then return to Long Thanh airport to work.

Vietnam Airports Corporation has coordinated with other units to organize the Long Thanh Airport Job Fair with the participation of thousands of people. Up to now, about 1,300 workers have registered to apply for the airport to work in positions such as: operation engineer, electrical equipment repair, mechanical - automation, legal specialist, business. In addition, many young people are striving to study with the hope of working at the project in the future.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phong, Head of the Long Thanh Airport Exploitation Preparation Board, said that to work in the aviation industry, in addition to professional qualifications and foreign languages, workers must also have qualities and virtues such as: high discipline, ability to withstand great work pressure; communication skills and teamwork.
Human resource training support policy
According to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, there are currently 25 units nationwide that have been granted certificates of eligibility to train and coach aviation staff by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam. To supply human resources for Long Thanh airport, schools in Dong Nai cannot train themselves but must cooperate with certified units. Aviation courses have high training costs. Up to now, in Dong Nai province, only Lilama 2 School organizes aviation training courses. A few educational institutions have signed cooperation agreements but have not actually provided training.

Mr. Le Truong Son, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, stated that in order to meet the human resources for Long Thanh airport, the province directed training institutions to review and coordinate with aviation enterprises to develop training and development programs suitable to the characteristics of the industry; create conditions for students to practice at enterprises in the airport to help them gain experience and contact to improve their understanding of practical work. The province requested relevant units to regularly provide information on Long Thanh airport's human resources so that the locality can be proactive in consulting and career orientation for everyone. The project investor has a policy of giving priority to recruiting local workers if they meet the criteria to work at the project.
Currently, Dong Nai is implementing the Project on training and developing on-site human resources to serve Long Thanh airport in the period of 2024 - 2026, with a vision to 2030. The project aims to train and support job search for about 4,800 people from now until 2030. In addition, the province is also completing documents to build a Resolution regulating the content and level of expenditure for training human resources to serve Long Thanh airport in the period of 2026 - 2030.
