Receiving a salary of 0 VND for the whole year, the boss of Mobile World is about to own a fortune of nearly 90 billion VND.

(NLDO)- According to the list of ESOP 2024 program, Mr. Doan Van Hieu Em, Member of Mobile World Board of Directors, bought the most with more than 1.6 million MWG shares.

The Board of Directors of Mobile World Investment Corporation (stock code: MWG) recently approved the share issuance ratio under the employee stock option program for key managers of the company and its subsidiaries (ESOP).

According to the resolution, Chairman Nguyen Duc Tai and non-executive members of the Board of Directors will not be able to participate in the ESOP policy.

Mobile World will issue nearly 20 million MWG shares, equivalent to 1.36% of outstanding shares, expected to be implemented in the first quarter of 2025. The preferential price is 10,000 VND/share, 80% lower than the closing price in the trading session on February 13, 54,800 VND/share.

However, these shares will be subject to transfer restrictions within 2 years from the date of completion of the issuance.

According to the list of more than 300 employees participating in the ESOP 2024 program, Mr. Doan Van Hieu Em, Member of the Board of Directors, bought the most with more than 1.6 million MWG shares.

Thus, Mr. Hieu Em only needs to spend 16 billion VND to buy, while, if calculated at current market price, the value of the MWG stock lot is nearly 90 billion VND, temporarily calculating a profit of nearly 74 billion VND.

According to Mobile World's fourth quarter 2024 financial report, some key members such as Mr. Hieu Em, Chairman Nguyen Duc Tai and Board Member and General Director Tran Huy Thanh Tung did not receive salaries in 2024.

However, Mr. Robert Willett, Member of the Board of Directors, was still paid a salary of nearly 2.4 billion VND.

In the market, Mobile World is one of the businesses that regularly issues ESOP shares. This is an important strategy in retaining talented people of Mobile World. However, in 2023 alone, Mobile World was forced to suspend this program due to unfavorable business conditions.

Regarding the business situation, in 2024, Mobile World's net revenue recorded 134,341 billion VND, an increase of 14% over the same period, exceeding the plan by 7%. Deducting expenses, profit after tax reached 3,733 billion VND, more than 22 times higher than the low base of the same period in 2023, exceeding the set target by 56%.
