At a meeting on the socio -economic situation on the afternoon of September 25, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said that most mixed-use apartment projects in the area do not meet the conditions to exploit short-term accommodation services for tourists.

Mr. Do Ngoc Hai - Head of the Department of Construction Maintenance and Operation Management (Department of Construction) - said that recently this agency has received many recommendations from apartment owners, management boards and operating management units. Opinions are divided into two directions: one group wants to keep the proper function of the house, while the other group proposes to exploit the apartment as accommodation services.

Through field inspection, the Department of Construction determined that most of the apartment buildings do not have electricity, water supply and drainage, elevators, fire protection and waste treatment systems specifically designed for residential purposes. Therefore, these projects do not meet the standards according to Circular 05/2024/TT-BXD on management and use of apartment buildings.

Currently, the Department of Construction is coordinating with relevant agencies to review and propose adjustments to Decision 26/2025/QD-UBND on the management and use of apartment buildings. At the same time, the Department of Tourism and the Department of Science and Technology are also implementing the Project "Management and development of the sharing economic model in the field of tourist accommodation" to effectively exploit this type while still ensuring security and safety for residents.
