(Dan Tri) - A group of skydivers had a "unique" experience when they discovered a complete rainbow while free-falling over the countryside of Nottinghamshire, England.

According to the New York Post , the video recorded on September 13 shows the whole skydiving group laughing and pointing excitedly when the rainbow circle appeared.

According to the video, a complete rainbow appeared between the clouds, so brilliant that it stunned the entire group and they spent the entire landing time admiring it.

“We spent almost the entire descent looking at it,” said instructor Jan Zackl. “It was a very special experience. All skydives are memorable, but this one was truly unique. We were absolutely stunned to see such a perfect rainbow.”

Laura Hampton, a member of the parachute team, also shared the same opinion: “It is very rare to see this phenomenon. From the plane we can sometimes observe small circles, but never so clear and complete. This is definitely a special moment.”

Experts explain that all rainbows are actually completely circular in shape. However, when observed from the ground, only a portion of the dome is visible.

“A rainbow is actually a circle. From our perspective, only the dome is visible because the rest is hidden by the ground,” explains BBC weather presenter Kaye Forster. Only from high altitudes, such as those of a pilot or skydiver, can the full circle be seen.

Rainbows are inherently circular but are often half-obscured (Photo: New York Post).

According to the British Meteorological Office, a rainbow is an optical phenomenon that occurs when sunlight strikes water droplets in the atmosphere.

Light entering a water drop is refracted, reflected inside and then released, separating into separate color bands to form a spectrum, usually consisting of seven colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Rainbows often appear after rain, when the sky has just cleared.

In addition to the main rainbow, under special conditions a secondary rainbow (double rainbow) with a lighter intensity can appear, located outside the main rainbow.
