Urban areas had lower price increases than rural areas (urban areas increased by 1.23%, rural areas increased by 1.41%).

The main reason for the above increase in CPI in January was due to the 17.33% increase in medical service prices; the 0.27% increase in medicine and medical equipment prices according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health (Circulars No. 21/2024/TT-BYT, 23/2024/TT-BYT) and the provincial regulations applied from January 1, 2025 (Resolution No. 115/NQ-HDND dated December 11, 2024 of the Provincial People's Council regulating the prices of medical examination and treatment services at state-owned medical examination and treatment facilities under the management authority of Hai Duong province).

Lunar New Year falls at the end of January, increasing consumer demand leading to price increases for some goods.

There are 8 groups of goods and services with increased prices and 2 groups with decreased prices, only the education group has stable prices. Among the groups of goods with increased prices, there are some groups with large increases, which have a big impact on the general CPI such as: the group of medicines and medical services increased by 13.31%; the group of transportation increased by 0.76%; the group of housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased by 0.22%; the group of household equipment and appliances increased by 0.19%...

On the contrary, prices of some items in January decreased slightly compared to the previous month such as: culture, entertainment and tourism group decreased by 0.1%; post and telecommunications group decreased by 0.06%.
