Portraits from silk scraps

Portraits made from scrap silk will help Vun Art improve working conditions for artisans with disabilities.

Vun Art, a social enterprise, has just launched the project "Portraits from scrap silk" to mobilize contributions from the community to improve working conditions for disabled artisans at this enterprise. Accordingly, each person can send a portrait of themselves or their friends to Vun Art to be turned into a silk collage. This silk portrait uses scraps of Ha Dong silk, designed and made by the disabled craftsman at Vun Art.

ART CRAP

Vun Art said that the income from this project will be used to improve working conditions for people with disabilities at the facility. Vun Art will build a new workshop, upgrade the interior, and equip other support equipment. Also at this "new home", Vun Art plans to open a cozy tea and coffee shop, serving visitors, tourists, and experiencers... with the desire to create a new sustainable livelihood for other people with disabilities.

Previously, Vun Art was famous for its vivid portraits of many famous people such as musician Trinh Cong Son, Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh; politicians such as late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha; artists such as singer My Tam, beauty queen H'Hen Nie... In 2019, Vun Art was evaluated by UNESCO as a sustainable creative model, both culturally creative, developing products of Van Phuc craft village, and sustainable in terms of employment for disadvantaged groups.

As planned, from June 27, the portraits produced by Vun Art in the project (with the consent of the customer) will be displayed at the Hanoi Museum, before Vun Art respectfully returns the portraits to the owners. The public can learn more about the project at https://tranhchandung.vunart.vn/ .
