Many effective models
The melon garden applying NNCNC of Ms. Pham Thi Tho's family in Dat Do commune grows an average of 4 crops per year, yielding about 420 tons; selling price from 25-30 thousand VND/kg. After deducting expenses, Ms. Tho earns a profit of over 2 billion VND. From the initial 2 greenhouses, up to now, Ms. Tho's family has developed 15 greenhouses with an investment capital of about 5 billion VND for the system. "Compared to the traditional growing method, growing melons in greenhouses minimizes insects as well as the effects of weather, especially in the rainy season. The automatic irrigation system helps to strictly control both water quality and the amount of water for the plants. When the plants get sick, treating the plants in greenhouses is also simpler, does not spread, and does not affect other gardens. Thanks to that, the harvested melon yield is stable, and the quality is also better," said Ms. Pham Thi Tho.
In 2022, Mr. Nguyen Viet Tu established Chau Pha Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative (Chau Pha commune) specializing in growing clean vegetables. From only 24 members, the Cooperative now has nearly 60 members, with about 45 hectares of vegetables of all kinds. In order to produce high-quality vegetables and fruits, ensure food safety and hygiene, and meet consumer needs, he has invested in technology such as greenhouses, energy-saving irrigation, etc. to improve productivity, quality, reduce costs, and reduce product prices. The Cooperative has 3 engineers, keeping diaries and monitoring the vegetable growing process at households every day. To reduce labor, Mr. Tu invested 2 billion VND to build a nursery and a 6-in-1 seed sowing machine. Currently, Mr. Tu's Cooperative supplies the market with 4-4.5 tons of clean vegetables every day, with the average income of cooperative members from 18-25 million VND/month. Chili products at Chau Pha Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative have been exported to Europe with an average weekly output of about 3 tons, bringing high income to farmers.
In recent years, many aquaculture models applying NNCNC have appeared in Ho Chi Minh City. The most prominent is the high-tech shrimp farming model of Cho Ben Cooperative, Long Dien Commune. Mr. Huynh Van Thuyet, Director of Cho Ben Cooperative, said that the Cooperative has a total water surface area of more than 3 hectares for aquaculture in the direction of ecological safety associated with the application of high technology, including 8 white-leg shrimp ponds with an area of 1,000m2/pond, 1 shrimp nursery pond. The remaining area is used as a settling pond to pump water in and out every day. The farming process is completely closed from raising shrimp larvae to adult shrimp supplied to the market. During the farming process, the water in the pond is changed continuously every day after going through the settling pond system. On average, each year, Cho Ben Cooperative implements 3 crops, each pond harvests an average of 2-2.5 tons of high-quality commercial shrimp.
Increase the value of agricultural production
According to the report of the agriculture and environment sector, as of July 2025, the area of communes focusing on developing NNCNC in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province such as Dat Do, Chau Pha, Hoa Hiep, Long Hai... has 527 production facilities for cultivation, livestock, aquaculture. Applied technologies are greenhouses, net houses, advanced irrigation systems that save water combined with automatic nutrient regulation... for cultivation; cold, multi-storey barns, using imported parent breeds, raising livestock according to VietGAP process, applying microorganisms in waste treatment, applying biological bedding... in the livestock sector.
Up to now, the NNCNC areas are all associated with the strengths of each locality such as Long Dat commune develops vegetable and flower production areas, fruit trees (soursop, mangosteen, durian, longan), seed production and aquaculture areas; Chau Duc, Kim Long, Ngai Giao communes... develop pepper and cocoa production areas, pig and chicken farming areas; Xuyen Moc, Hoa Hiep, Hoa Hoi communes... produce pepper, fruit trees, concentrated livestock farming areas... The application of NNCNC has helped establishments to be proactive in the season, increase the number of production crops per year, control pests, agricultural input materials, product quality meets food safety standards, VietGAP... at the same time increasing the linkage from cultivation to product consumption, thanks to which the production value is greatly increased compared to conventional production. Localities and authorities also strengthen the chain linking production with consumption, sustainability in production, associated with adaptation to climate change.
In the coming time, the local agricultural sector will continue to promote the application of high-tech agriculture; support businesses in establishing regional certification records and certification of high-tech application enterprises; effectively implement policies to support businesses investing in agriculture and rural areas, especially in the field of preserving and processing agricultural products...
