(NLDO) - Meritorious Artist Bich Hiep's dedication has left the dance industry with many masterpieces and she has guided and supported the younger generation very wholeheartedly.

Artist Le Nguyen Hieu, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Dance Artists Association, said that Meritorious Artist Bich Hiep, real name Bui Bich Hiep, passed away due to old age at 7:51 a.m. on December 15, at the age of 87.
Meritorious Artist Bui Bich Hiep was born on May 5, 1938, her hometown is Ha Tay, Hanoi. She joined the Military Music Team of the Military Training Department when she was only 11 years old. She was the youngest actress of the Military Music Team participating in campaigns such as Ha Nam Ninh, Cao Bac Lang... with the professional duties of playing the flute, dancing and singing.
In 1953, she transferred to the 316th Division's Art Troupe and the General Political Department's Song and Dance Troupe in 1956.

"She is also one of the people who have made great contributions to the strong development of the District 1 Cultural House, Ho Chi Minh City from the early days as the Chairman. She organized 32 basic dance classes including folk and ballet majors, built 17 clubs, teams, and groups such as: young voices, international dance, theater, photography, poetry, reformed opera, aesthetics, the elderly.... and the District 1 Cultural House has become one of the cradles that strongly contributed to promoting the cultural and artistic career of District 1 in particular and Ho Chi Minh City in general. Her contributions are great. She left behind many valuable legacies for the dance industry" - artist Le Nguyen Hieu shared.

In parallel with her role as Chairman of the District 1 Cultural House, Meritorious Artist Bui Bich Hiep was a member of the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Dance Artists Association from the first term until the end of the second term. One of the outstanding dance performances choreographed by her is "My Homeland Vietnam" performed in front of President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum in the 1st National Dance Festival organized by the Vietnam Dance Artists Association.
Along with her choreography duties, she was also assigned to be in charge of the "Pink Night" dance floor managed by the Ho Chi Minh City Dance Artists Association.

As both a dancer and an army soldier, Meritorious Artist Bui Bich Hiep traveled all over the country, not afraid of hardships or difficulties, wholeheartedly serving the soldiers. The State and the People's Army recognized her contributions to the revolutionary cause through noble awards: First-class Military Exploit Medal; First-class Anti-American National Salvation Medal; 3 Glorious Soldier Medals, First, Second, Third; First-class Victory Medal during the anti-French period...
During her artistic career, she was also awarded many awards: Medal for the Cause of Mass Culture, Medal for the Cause of Vietnamese Dance Art, Ho Chi Minh Prize Certificate for Literature and Arts, Third Class Labor Medal...
Generations of dancers who were her students were saddened to hear of her passing. This loss is irreparable, especially for her contributions to the cultural sector of Ho Chi Minh City.
Meritorious Artist Bich Hiep's funeral will be held at the Southern National Funeral Home (5 Pham Ngu Lao, Ward 3, Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City). Memorial service will be at 11:45 a.m., followed by cremation at Binh Hung Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City.
