Danang female student wins nearly 60,000 pound scholarship from world's number 1 university

With the desire to design applied educational solutions to serve the needs of learners, especially in areas with limited access to knowledge, Nguyen chose to study Education, specializing in Technological and Social Innovation at Oxford University.

Nguyen said that the time to submit the application coincided with the stressful period of the final year of university. The Da Nang student had to study many specialized subjects, do her graduation thesis, do an internship and extracurricular activities. To get into one of the most prestigious master's programs in the world, Hanh Nguyen had to overcome a rigorous selection process, the most difficult of which was writing an essay.

“I did not just talk about my achievements but chose to tell a true story about myself, my experiences, difficulties, motivation to study and my dream to contribute. It was the consistency in my personal story, clear academic goals and practical experiences from community projects that helped me stand out among hundreds of international candidates,” Nguyen shared.

Nguyen's efforts received a nod from Oxford University, and beyond Nguyen's expectations, the school also awarded a "huge" scholarship of nearly 60,000 pounds for her Master's degree. "I feel extremely happy and proud to be admitted to Oxford University and also receive an additional scholarship. This is the result of a long journey full of efforts and challenges with the support of teachers, family, and friends...", Hanh Nguyen was moved.

According to Nguyen, Oxford University is a place where cultures and academic elites intersect. Nguyen hopes to accumulate a solid foundation to return to Vietnam to develop creative educational initiatives, targeting students in disadvantaged areas. This desire stems from her passion for being a teacher since childhood, from scientific research to volunteer campaigns, especially educational projects for disadvantaged children that Nguyen participated in. Throughout that journey, Nguyen realized that many poor students were eager to learn but due to constraints in circumstances, methods, applications, and initiatives for education have not been promoted.

“Those experiences helped me better understand the social responsibility of educators, not only to learn for myself but also to strive to bring education to the disadvantaged,” Nguyen confided. Hanh Nguyen also advised students who are dreaming of studying abroad to dare to dream big and dare to believe in themselves. Scholarships are not only for the best, but for those who are willing to step out of their comfort zone and constantly strive. After completing her Master's degree at Oxford, Nguyen plans to return to Vietnam to develop innovative educational initiatives, bringing global knowledge to local practice, especially in places that need the light of knowledge and civilization the most.

The University of Foreign Languages said that Hanh Nguyen is an active and enthusiastic student (member of the Executive Committee of the Danang University Youth Union, member of the Executive Committee of the University Youth Union, student representative in the University Council), actively participating in and leading many activities from scientific research to volunteer campaigns, especially educational projects for poor children.
