Oura rings track sleep, exercise, stress, heart health, and other metrics to help users understand their bodies and make healthier choices. The Oura Ring 4 has new sensors, a sleeker design, and up to eight days of battery life.

Oura launches a new version, the Oura Ring 4 smart ring with health monitoring function.

Oura says it has developed a new “Smart Sensor” platform that uses updated algorithms and sensors to capture more accurate readings of blood oxygen sensors, daytime and nighttime heart rate, and respiratory disorders.

The sensors in the third-generation Oura rings were convex and felt like little bumps, but the sensors in the Oura Ring 4 are completely flat. This should give the ring a smoother, more comfortable interior to wear.

The Oura Ring 4 is available in 12 sizes and 6 colors, including a new black finish. It will be available to order from launch and will begin shipping October 15.

In addition to the upfront cost, users will have to pay a membership fee of $5.99/month, or $69.99/year. The first month is free. Customers can use their flexible spending account and health savings account to pay for the ring and membership.

Oura also announced a new design for its app, which is currently rolling out to members. Under the new layout, users' data will be organized in a logical interface with sections: Today, Vital Health, and My Health.

The Today section will highlight relevant information based on the time of day, including shortcuts so people can quickly access information about their sleep, activity, readiness, stress, heart rate, and menstrual cycle, if available.

Users can dig deeper into their data in Vital Health and access longer-term metrics like sleep trends, heart age, sleep trends, and stress recovery in My Health.

While exercising, members won’t have to manually record their heart rate or the type of exercise they’re doing. They’ll also be able to see their daily activity and movement in the data, which Oura says will help users better understand how their behaviors and habits may be affecting their health.

Oura is also updating its reproductive health services, a feature that can help inform users about their chances of getting pregnant. The Fertile Window will give users an estimate of their fertile days, their likelihood of conceiving, and their detected ovulation date. These features will roll out in the coming months, but members can sign up for a waitlist to get early access.

Oura Health Ltd is a Finnish health technology company, best known for the Oura Ring, a smart ring that tracks sleep and physical activity. The company was founded in 2013 by Petteri Lahtela, Kari Kivela, and Markku Koskela. Oura products are sold globally.
