PGBank promotes green credit, accompanying the global ESG trend

(Dan Tri) - In the context of ESG becoming a mandatory factor in the development strategy of companies globally, the Prosperity and Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank (PGBank) has just launched the green credit product PG Green for corporate customers since June.

This is a strategic step of PGBank to accompany businesses in the process of transforming business models towards environmental friendliness and sustainable development.

ESG is no longer a guiding concept but has become a standard in the investment and financial world. Financial institutions not only assess financial capacity when granting credit but also consider factors related to environmental protection, social impact and internal governance. The application of ESG criteria in credit activities is expected to contribute to promoting the formation of a responsible growth economy , in which banks play the role of "gatekeepers" of capital flows, directing financial resources to the right areas of sustainable value.

PGBank representative said PG Green is not only a credit product, but also a tool to support green businesses to access preferential capital effectively, while creating motivation for domestic businesses to transform their production and business models, ready to participate in sustainable value chains according to global standards.

To effectively implement PG Green, PGBank has built a separate credit appraisal mechanism and a list of specific lending areas, in line with green credit criteria, to facilitate businesses' access to capital.

Previously, since the beginning of 2025, PGBank has launched an internal ESG program, establishing a set of standards and promoting activities related to environmental protection, human development and enhancing transparency in corporate governance. This is the foundation for the bank to comprehensively integrate ESG into its medium and long-term operational strategy.
