The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) is a typical model, with the participation of local authorities and social activities. During 13 organizing periods (since 2008), in 6 years with the companionship of Sun Group, Da Nang city has not only been relieved of the financial burden of hundreds of billions of VND each season, but also "shared the worries" in every stage from idea generation to event implementation.
Mr. Huynh Nam Thang, Vice President of Sun Group Central region, said that for each fireworks season, the group invests heavily, both financially and emotionally, and it takes nearly a year to prepare. To create sustainable development for DIFF, Da Nang city has established a clear strategy: turning the festival into the main axis in the ecosystem of tourism - trade - entertainment events. Not simply a fireworks festival, DIFF now plays a central role connecting a series of satellite events to promote the night economy and MICE tourism events (tourism combined with conferences, seminars, exhibitions). From big music festivals, art shows, cruise tours, street activities, night cuisine... extending the length of stay and increasing spending of tourists.
Launched in 2020, the Da Nang Tourism Development Promotion Fund, the first socialized fund model in Vietnam in the tourism sector, plays an important role in effectively mobilizing resources from the business community for tourism promotion activities; especially in the challenging recovery period after the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Mr. Cao Tri Dung, interim Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Development Promotion Fund, recently, the Da Nang Event Destination Association (DECA) under the Fund was officially launched, gathering large enterprises in the field of event organization, travel, MICE, hotels, conference centers and related support services of Da Nang and Quang Nam, together committing to close cooperation to build and enhance the ecosystem of high-quality, professional MICE services.
In mid-August, Viet AnGroup Joint Stock Company sent a document to the Party Committee, People's Committee of Hoa Xuan Ward and related departments, branches and sectors, proposing to invest in a complex of Cultural - Culinary - Community Tourism Park combined with Hoa Xuan Inland Waterway Wharf in the riverside area along Ton That Duong Ky Street.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam, General Director of Viet AnGroup Joint Stock Company, said that through studying the planning projects for the development of Da Nang city in the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, and the survey results of the "Green River - Ancient Craft Village" tour previously approved by the People's Committee of Cam Le District, Viet AnGroup realized that this area has ideal conditions for developing community tourism, eco-tourism and responsible green tourism.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the tourism development plan for 2025, the city calls for business resources to host a number of national and international festivals periodically throughout the year to create new products to attract visitors such as: Coastal Festival, International Light Festival, International Music Festival...; calls for organizations, businesses and individuals to invest in developing waterway tourism.
