According to the distributor, director Bui Thac Chuyen's war blockbuster reached 60,000 pre-sold tickets before the film's official release, something that has never happened with historical films before.
The movie was scheduled to be released on April 4, but due to falling on two days of national mourning, causing theaters to close, The Tunnels was not officially released to the public until April 6.
According to statistics from the Box Office Vietnam system , as of 2:00 p.m. on April 6, The Tunnels has reached the 50 billion mark (including early screenings on April 2 and 3 as well as pre-booked tickets).
Positive feedback from viewers and experts from the first screenings combined with good word of mouth, the film premiered during the holiday season, so cinemas are opening at full capacity to increase screenings for Tunnels. Today alone, April 6, the film had more than 5,000 screenings, which has never happened before for this genre of film.

Due to its release during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day holiday, The Tunnels will certainly set a series of box office records in the coming days and is expected to create a fever across theaters this April, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification.
