On September 18, reflecting to Tuoi Tre Online, Mr. T., a parent whose child is studying in grade 2 at Le Thanh Ton Primary and Secondary School (Cam Lam commune), said that in the first meeting of the year announcing the school's fees, there were unclear fees, some fees were collected last year but were still collected this year.
"The fees for equipment and TV purchases were paid last year and will be paid again this year. For second graders, the fee is 1,696,000 VND/student, higher than other primary schools in the area (less than 1 million VND/student)" - Mr. T. said.
In addition, according to the above parent, the tuition fee for English and IT subjects, the current regulation is only 1,000 VND/lesson, the school organizes 2 lessons per week, but collects 40,000 VND/month/student.
Mr. T. said the school notified and asked parents to urgently pay and transfer money into a bank account at the beginning of the school year, including some amounts that were not clearly explained during the parent meeting.
Talking to Tuoi Tre Online about the above issue, Mr. Luong Van Loc - principal of Le Thanh Ton Primary and Secondary School - affirmed that the collections at the beginning of the year are all in accordance with current regulations.
According to Mr. Loc, the English and IT tuition fees for grades 1 and 2 are not yet 100% supported, so the school collects tuition fees according to regulations.
"According to Resolution 12 of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Council on tuition fees, the two subjects of English and Information Technology are regulated to be from 1,000 - 10,000 VND/period/student (applicable to both urban and rural areas). My school only collects 5,000 VND/period/student to comply with the regulations" - Mr. Loc said.
Explaining why schools in the area do not collect tuition fees for the above two subjects, Mr. Loc said that because those schools have many English or IT teachers. These teachers are assigned to teach enough classes according to regulations, including teaching students in grades 1 and 2, so students do not have to pay extra tuition fees.
As for other revenues related to insurance, class funds, team funds or facility upgrades, the principal simply explained that "all are implemented according to regulations and the actual situation of the school."
