The 2025 Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament will kick off with a press conference introducing the tournament on the afternoon of September 16 in Ho Chi Minh City.

This is the third year that Tuoi Tre newspaper , Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) have coordinated to organize this meaningful playground for workers.

Coach Kim Sang Sik's assistant - Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh is one of the guests attending the upcoming press conference.

At the recent FIFA Days in September, Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh was given the position of head coach of the Vietnam national team by coach Kim Sang Sik while the Korean coach led the Vietnam U23 team to compete in the 2026 U23 Asia qualifiers.

Tuoi Tre Online interviewed acting head coach of the Vietnamese team Dinh Hong Vinh about the tournament.

* The 2025 Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament is now in its third season. What do you think about this playground?

- The Vietnamese workers' and civil servants' football tournament has entered its third season. I consider this a playground that is increasingly affirming its value.

In the 2024 season, the tournament attracted tens of thousands of workers and civil servants across the country to participate, with 16 excellent teams competing in the national finals.

That shows strong spread, creating a widespread sports movement, contributing to improving spiritual life, training health, and affirming the spirit of solidarity and discipline in the working community.

* Workers and civil servants have a meaningful playground. But from a professional perspective, do you expect the tournament to contribute anything more to Vietnamese football? At least to grassroots football?

- From a professional perspective, I expect the tournament will continue to be organized systematically, the quality of competition will be increasingly improved, attracting many strong amateur football teams to participate.

This will be an environment for amateur players to practice and contribute, and can also be a place to discover potential factors.

Professional football, if it wants to be sustainable, must be based on a broad and solid grassroots foundation. I believe that the tournament will contribute positively to community football, thereby indirectly supporting the development of professional football.

* You will attend the press conference to launch this year's tournament. What do you plan to share with the organizers and participating teams?

First of all, I would like to congratulate and thank the Organizing Committee - especially the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Football Federation, Tuoi Tre newspaper and the sponsors - for maintaining and developing an extremely meaningful playground for workers.

I also hope that the participating teams will compete with all their might, with fair play, and give the audience attractive and beautiful matches. With the spirit of solidarity, honesty and nobility, I believe that the tournament will become more and more prestigious, becoming an annual meeting place that is highly anticipated by workers and civil servants across the country.

* Do you have any further messages for the tournament?

- For me, football always has the mission of connecting people. When workers and civil servants - those who are directly creating value for society - have their own sports playground, it is not just football, but also a cultural beauty.

This tournament is a testament to the attention of all levels of the Union, while also arousing pride and dedication in the community.

I believe that in the future, the Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament will continue to develop sustainably, becoming a big brand of grassroots football, strongly spreading the spirit of sportsmanship in society.

In 2025, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Football Federation and Tuoi Tre Newspaper will continue to coordinate to organize the Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament. Entering its third year of organization, the tournament has affirmed its position as an annual and prestigious playground for workers, civil servants and laborers across the country, contributing to promoting the movement of physical exercise and sports, improving the cultural and spiritual life of workers, civil servants and laborers in particular and the whole society in general.

This year's tournament is honored to receive the support of Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO); Dong Luc Sports Group; HTP Pharmaceutical Investment Joint Stock Company; Hoa Sen Group Joint Stock Company; Sunshine Group; Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO); Faslink Joint Stock Company; 108 Central Military Hospital; 175 Military Hospital and a number of enterprises.

The tournament announcement press conference will take place on September 16. This will be followed by the Northern regional qualifiers from September 26 to 28; the Southern regional qualifiers from October 9 to 12. The tournament journey will end with the National Finals, held in Ho Chi Minh City from October 24 to 26.
