Bustling young quan ho singing

BAC NINH - Every summer, in addition to recreational activities, many Bac Ninh children choose to participate in Quan Ho folk singing classes in the locality. These special classes not only provide a healthy and useful playground but also contribute to fostering and spreading love for the homeland and pride in cultural heritage among the young generation.

During the summer vacation, every Monday to Thursday evening, the Chu Mau Cultural House in Nam Son Ward is filled with the clear singing of the free Quan Ho singing class organized by the Youth Union of the neighborhood. Under the enthusiastic guidance of the artists of the Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Song Theater and the Youth Union members, each song and sweet melody is sung passionately by the children, as a testament to the enduring vitality and continuity of the homeland's cultural heritage in the hearts of the young generation.

Nguyen Ngoc Huyen, Chu Mau area shared: “Every evening I am eager to go to singing lessons. I was taught by the artists ancient quan ho songs such as: Ly cay da, Long lanh, Lung lieng, Buon bac buon dau… Since then, I love the quan ho melodies of my hometown even more.”

In Phat Tich commune, the Quan Ho Club of Thuong village also opened a free singing class for children aged 4 to 14 right after their summer vacation. Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen, Head of the Quan Ho Club of Thuong village shared: "Wearing the charming costumes of the Lien Anh and Lien Chi Quan Ho singers, the children's faces showed joy and pride."

In addition to physical training and life skills activities, teaching Quan Ho singing to children during the summer has become a prominent activity, organized by the Youth Union at all levels, schools and Quan Ho villages. Many classes have been opened in wards such as Kinh Bac, Vu Ninh, Thuan Thanh and Tien Du, Yen Phong communes... with the participation of folk artists and artisans. Here, children not only learn to sing but also learn about Quan Ho culture and costumes... A notable highlight in the 2025 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign is that Bac Ninh Provincial Youth Union invites famous artists to their hometown to directly teach students.

At Thai Bao Primary and Secondary School, Nhan Thang Commune, more than 600 students had the opportunity to experience a special lesson with musician and singer Tuan Cry and singer Minh Ngoc, Champion of "Tuyet Dinh Song Ca Nhi". In addition to short-term singing classes, every year, the Bac Ninh Provincial Youth Activity Center (under the Provincial Youth Union) also maintains the playground "Bac Ninh Province's Quan Ho Singing Open". Teaching Quan Ho to the young generation is not only a meaningful summer activity, but also contributes directly to nurturing the soul and fostering love for the homeland and country for the next generation.
