Nearly 1.2 million license plates of 34 provinces and cities are about to be auctioned.

The Ministry of Public Security announced the auction of more than 1.2 million license plates in the 7th session, including 34 provinces and cities on the list.

Recently, the Ministry of Public Security has approved the plan to auction license plates, with more than 1.2 million license plates being auctioned in the 7th auction session. The starting price for car license plates is 40 million VND, and for motorbikes is 5 million VND. The time is 30 days from the date of posting the license plate list, which is around the second half of July.

The license plate numbers to be auctioned in the upcoming 7th session are as follows:

There are 34 provinces and cities that have license plate auctions, including 37 prefixes, of which Hanoi has 29 and 30, Ho Chi Minh City has 50, 51 and 59, the remaining provinces and cities each have one prefix.

In this period, there were more than 301,000 car license plates, equivalent to about 24% of the total number. The remaining more than 934,000 license plates were for motorbikes. Of which, Ho Chi Minh City is the place with the most license plates auctioned, followed by Hanoi. However, if we consider cars alone, Hanoi is the top, while Ho Chi Minh City leads in the number of motorbike license plates.

People can learn, choose license plates and participate in the auction through the Ministry of Public Security's electronic information portal, the information page of the Traffic Police Department, or the website of Vietnam Joint Stock Auction Company (VPA).

In the previous 6th auction (April 8 - June 19), the Traffic Police Department said it had successfully auctioned 56,500 license plates, including about 19,500 car license plates and nearly 37,000 motorbike license plates, with a budget revenue of about VND2,300 billion.

From September 15, 2023 to now, the total amount collected from this is 6,400 billion VND. For cars, some license plates are auctioned at very high prices such as 30M-888.88 (10.5 billion VND), 99A-888.88 (10 billion VND). For motorbikes, the value of auctioned license plates is also up to billions, such as 50AA-888.88 (1.45 billion VND), 11AA-111.11 (1.13 billion VND).
